Why such a discrepancy between payments to BSU and UT-martin? Distance?

Why such a discrepancy between payments to BSU and UT-martin? Distance? Maybe because it was a late addition to the schedule after the Oklahoma game couldn't happen.

Why such a discrepancy between payments to BSU and UT-martin? Distance? Most likely WHEN the contract was signed. One-off buy-in game prices have risen rapidly the last couple of decades or so.

Funny. With the lack of context provided, the average person might read that and conclude the football program is a cash cow for the university. Hilarious

Hilarious Not often, but every once in a while, we get someone on this board saying something like "BSU football supports all the other sports financially". I think there may be a number of casual fans who have this impression. Of course the regulars on this board know better. Maybe I myself have had some small part in clarifying the situation for those here.

Attendance for Maction and regular season is proof that football cannot and does not support anything. Say $180.00 for a season ticket for 6 games that are sellouts 22500 would bring in 4,050,000 that would pay for something. The last time I think we had a sellout was for the IU game in 2006.

How many general admission tickets are sold revenue amount. Season tickets? What is the gross and net income for football? What does it cost BSU to have a div.1 football team? $77.00 =12.83 per game for 6 games Must have an ass kicking MAC championship team for 4 or 5 years to maybe fill more seats. Must be able to beat some power 5 teams like beating Virginia and IU and making believers out of other teams that we are for real

Well gen admission is only 77 for the season Yes, and while season Ticket prices are low, raising the prices is tricky. Students are now admitted free and won't come...Season ticket sales at a very low price don't fill the West side.
The assumption of sellout crowds at even higher prices is a no go.
Numbers are important for another reason. MAC membership requires that if we do not average 15K then we have to actually buy tickets for the empty seats up to that attendance level. Which means part of the budget for football has always been paying for empty seats...So even when we lose money at a low ticket price, it's better than raising prices, increasing revenue, but cutting attendance.
IF we could both increase attendance to 15K average and also raise prices while doing it, perhaps by a miraculous increase in student attendance, the revenue is still far short of the budget. That 4 million revenue mentioned above, based on sellouts and ticket price increase, even with 3 million in money games and modest revenue from MACtion TV, still isn't a balanced budget.
