It all sounds great, and resolute and pride and run through a brick wall and FAMILY but there are no wins and there are no points on the scoreboard. IMO it feels more like Mike is pleading to keep his job to the AD now. The base of fans that we are, we’ll still be there. But you’ve lost the students and the walk up ticket buyers. Again. In year 8. The norm for Mikes program. The irony of Mikes best year was it was a year no fans were allowed…. Anyway, as much as love to hear the kinds of things Mike and players are saying, they are saying after yet another loss. And it could easily have been a win but we couldn’t make the necessary plays. Over 8 years that’s the common denominator— we couldn’t make the necessary plays. There’s always a breakdown somewhere, whether it be penalties, turnovers, poor execution or just a lack of playmakers. Always. It’s time to pull the plug and everyone including Mike knows it. But, based on what we know Mike ain’t going anywhere unless some money pops up. So maybe Mike is speaking more to the donors with all the platitudes and rah rah in that presser after another loss. Please don’t buyout my contact, we’re a family here!
I do keep wishing we could get hot and win out and feel good, temporarily. But even if we did (extremely unlikely), and sink a million bucks into a bad bowl game and more rah rah the fact remains we’ll be in the same situation again next year with Mike/lynch playing the wrong Qb in the wrong system and penalties and poor execution and a defense doing all it can till it breaks because the margin for error is so slim and another wasted season….. So, my heart is pulling for these guys but my head is saying, give me a break.

We seem to not have the money to buy out Mike's contract. What about the $1.6 million we got to play Georgia instead of paying Army?

And the over $1 million we got for Kentucky? We must have more expenses than I could imagine.

On the income statement they count a transfer from student fees as "revenue" when it in fact simply an allocation of student fees to FB to balance the deficit of operations there.
Student fees are a slush fund used for other purposes as well as athletics, but raising student fees is constrained by having to report that increase which is compared to all other public universities by the public and by the legislature and higher education commission overseeing recommendations for overall budget. It's sticky to raise, and cuts elsewhere to do so would be public.

Really want the team to be successful and will support them. Saw a very dim light at the end of the very dark tunnel that has been our season. My blood is so Cardinal red that I am taking Eliquis to tone things down. Have followed the Cards since Jim Freeman was coach.
