Why not NFL minor leagues for the football-starved big city wannabees? When a $1M+ NIL player gets injured can the NIL collectives insure him? 😂 The NFL got away for many decades with a free minor league system called the NCAA. They benefit, they should be subsidizing NCAA football.

The NFL gets by with a whole lot of crap All pro sports do, like 1.5 billion dollar stadiums with less than 40% funded by the owners or leagues. Sports have become a bigger and bigger shit show every year, as everyone chases the almighty dollar

Don't be holding your breath waiting for the NFL to provide the $10 million a year necessary to keep a MAC program like BSU afloat, so that they can get that occasional camp body or roster depth player. Keeping BSU football afloat will always be on the shoulders of BSU students because nobody is going to come up with that kind of money voluntarily.

Keeping BSU football afloat will always be on the shoulders of BSU students because nobody is going to come up with that kind of money voluntarily. BSU is not the only school burning student fees to support FB. Universities can probably justify using a fair amount of money for that purpose, so perhaps the NFL and P5 could provide something less than 10 mil.
But the real changes have to be on the expense side as well. Going down to FCS would save a few million? Rules change, cuts in scholarship and roster size, other changes will not mean as much saving as all that. Could the deficit be cut in half? It does not look like revenue enhancement is in the picture. Those money games are going to gradually be reduced in number as P5 conferences maximize TV revenue, and offer home fans better match ups and more conference games early season.
The cost of subsidy of CFB ultimately comes down to many schools dropping FB. Probably after some significant time losing as much money after making changes.
