National TV coverage good, but this time slot sucks.

That's a pathetically stupid take by that guy.
So ESPN brings "Maction" to 72 million households. By the way, it brings to the same 72 million households the Ga State vs Southern Miss. womens soccer game, and the Warriors vs Chargers Magic City Jai Alai match, and a bunch of other cheap filler programming that it pays a paltry amount for.
Of those 72 million households, how many tune in the MAC football game? Of those, how many on Friday will remember the names of the schools they watched on Wednesday? Of those, how many will donate to, or apply to, or buy merch from the schools, or benefit the schools in any way whatsoever in any fashion that they wouldn't have if they didn't see that game? We are down to a number pretty close to zero, if not actually zero.
Such is the return on the $10 million per year each MAC school pays to keep football afloat.

No worries...both MAC games are only going up against the World Series tonight...

Here's Calhoun, a legit sports fan although probably admittedly not of every sport or league, and he has no idea the championship of one of the top 4 American professional sports leagues is being played. If he doesn't know that, what's the likelihood of midweek Maction having any audience that's going to move the needle on anything anywhere?

I knew the playoffs were going on but not that the world series had started. I see now its all ready game 4 oddly I literally watched football all day Saturday and Sunday and cant remember any mention of world series

Wednesday night, Halloween night, World Series, Dancing with the Stars, Mid American Conference, 4-4 teams, Snow/Ice, Empty stadiums......ESPN should have paid the MAC $10.99 Toledo also had the money in their football budget to outfit the entire team in Halloween costumes and decorate the turf in orange/black.

MAC ESPN dealThe above linked article says MAC schools get about $670K a year from the espn tv deal. This would cover a bit less that 7% of the yearly deficit that the MAC football programs create for their schools. This is the reward that MAC schools get for pimping out their football teams into these godforsaken time slots to fill blank spots in espn's programming schedule.

I’m not sure I’m following your argument. I would think you would want the schools scraping the bottom of every barrel to offset those costs. Are you saying the schools should reject that 7% offset so the fans can enjoy Saturday afternoon games?

To be fair, the "other RC" has been known to indulge at times which may or may not affect his spelling, typing, comprehension and overall ability to be aware of his immediate surroundings.

But the gain in revenue is 670K-gate lost. Saturday attendance, concessions and so on don't add up to 670 but 670 is not all gain was my point. I do hate going to the November night games, so there is some subjective loss, and less incentive to buy season tickets.

Oh, I would say it's better to take espn's paltry pay out because it does save the students a little bit of money. But my point was more that the TV contract and exposure is just another ridiculous aspect of the overall dismal, pathetic and expensive effort at D1 football that the MAC schools persist in making. And that some dim-witted people portray the espn tv exposure as some big boon to MAC schools...such as the guy whose tweet is the original subject of this thread.
