Oh, I see. So for example SEC football has spent much more money on NIL and on athletics generally as compared to the MAC for the last couple years. So the concept of scarcity would then suggest that the MAC must have a lot more money left to spend on NIL and athletics going forward. Here is what is funny. Our friend Sherman made a fairly innocent mistake in suggesting that spending $15 million on a separate project meant that $4,000/basketball player was readily available. Not much of a big deal really...$4,000/player is a small amount and probably is available. But he made a mistake in saying that because $15 million had been spent it followed that more could be obtained. But you see, I knew...KNEW...that he would be unable to admit a mistake because I've seen enough of him around here. I admit that I then wrote the "economic textbooks" post to goad him because I knew he would be incapable of handling his mistake gracefully. I knew I would have further amusement from his subsequent posts trying to obfuscate his mistake and justify himself. And I did have. Maybe you could say I'm a dick myself for taking advantage of his weaknesses like that. Maybe so.

Isn't it obvious the SEC not only has MUCH more donor money available, but their spending is supported by high revenue. Well apparently the way it works is that examples of past revenues, donations and expenditures indicate NOT that you tend to have income sources and money to spend, rather they indicate you are about to run into the concept of scarcity and thus have LESS to spend going forward. See, if you would read Thomas Sowell, you would know this.

Sorry, but the prior and recent example of a $15 million donor expenditure DOES in fact tend to suggest that the department in question can generate donor money when it needs to. Particular the much lower amounts being discussed in with MAC NIL. You are being a dick, but more in the way of being unable to understand and obvious point.

Butler is finding they don't have the money to play with Big East schools now. The only way they get back to being an NCAA tourney school is to get in a smaller conference. They look to me to be an A10 school who can maybe compete with Dayton to rule it.

At this point it's too late to change course.

Reggie Bass is back in the portal. CMU, Kent and now?? Who would have guessed that a kid that played for four different high schools would use the transfer portal?

I had forgotten he was the MAC Frosh of the year at CMU last season. His bio says he had offers out of high school from some really big time programs. Did he choose CMU because of academic issues? I'm told he had a very rough go as a youth in Muncie.

But while we are on book recommendations, might I suggest this one to you:

I think Lewis might be what he needs. Lewis offers structure but will have to tone down B Knight stuff. Hendricks taking all the BS from Lewis has really improved. Lewis is not dumb my son played for a Bobby Knight clone coach and under stood the method but still was very uncomfortable with it. These days dealing with all these entitled kids I would be fired as a teacher. There are players out there like the kid from Valpo who get it. Bobby Knight is dead and Lewis has to move on from it. I think he has to a degree but needs help from the administration in the form of money. If we lack in funding in the bottom third of the MAC and still are able to achieve championships in gymnastics, baseball, and others is fools gold.

Wow! Butler’s D.J.Davis entered the portal. It appeared he had a green light to launch whenever he wanted. Must be looking for a bigger payday than what Matta & Butler can provide.
