Yeah a TON of pressure. If MAC teams do poorly in the bowls, as seems to be expected, nobody will be impressed and the programs will lose $10 million apiece next season that has to be covered by student fees. If MAC teams do surprisingly well in the bowls, nobody will be impressed and the programs will lose $10 million apiece next season that has to be covered by student fees. HUUUUGE pressure. The nation holds its breath. Sorry, but MAC football is just an endless series of big, fat, juicy, hanging curve balls right over the middle of the plate.

Sorry, but MAC football is just an endless series of big, fat, juicy, hanging curve balls right over the middle of the plate. If that's the case then I'd say suggesting that only matters of national import warrant the participants feeling pressure to succeed is a big fat juicy swing and a miss. I'd say it's more a case of when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. You have one point to make and you'll shoehorn it in to every conversation. Even though everyone's heard it before, neither you nor anyone else here can do anything about it, and nobody cares.

Meatballs in the crock pot describes the bowl season rather well.
Right! They are sooo good!! I like them in the crock pot better than an air fryer, but again, just my tastes.

You pay 40 bucks a year for the washington post copy and paste that stuff for the peasants here 41 games MAC made bottom 6 except for 2. The author liked the Toledo and Miami games ranked in the 20's. Ohio v Ga Southern #41.

Face it, MAC football isn’t very good and is on the brink of irrelevance. The league and the member schools need to do some soul searching.

Assuming that the conferences do their musical chairs, we should be aware that all schools and athletic departments have access to the same statistics and TV visuals that we have concerning the Mid American Conference. It will be interesting to see what dregs of athletic program prowess the MAC will have to take in as the decent programs flee to better managed conferences. Since we are already an established MAC institution, we can consider ourselves void of the "dregs program" moniker.

The P4/5 could eventually turn into two, maybe 3 super conferences. I don't see many schools outside the P5 joining the club. A few currently P5 might be hard pressed to stay at that level. Move down when their conference dies.
The G5 will no doubt reorganize a bit.
The question is whether we have the resources to be in that second tier. For me not if it is going to be pretend FBS like the NCAA proposal.
For all but a few MAC schools there needs to be separate FB from the other sports at a lower budget level. Let those schools go in FB. A new MAC, along lines of the MVC, other dregs of G5 could make up a reorganized FCS in FB.
That entity could even downsize a bit from current budget levels there, I suppose. (65 scholarships, lower staffing expense) If in fact having FB and losing money provides benefits in good will and branding, that compromise might work without going all the way down to D3 level spending.
Fewer and shared scholarships, less need for NIL, other steps to reduce expense are possible.
Ivy league and D3 with no scholarship expense still doesn't break even but seems to be proof FB can fit in without breaking the bank. And without as much prospect of continuing escalation of the arms race.
Absolute quality obviously would be lower but games are still great and good players get a chance to show their skills. Maybe those low level meaningless FBS bowls would transform into a championship tournament, if that really is any current value?

THIS YEAR go back and list those signature wins. Which ones meant anything? MAC vs P5 overall record? What were records of those teams we beat? Where did the MAC stand among FBS conferences overall?

The Ohio over Iowa State game is the best win for the conference this year. Iowa State finished the year #26 in Sagarin; 7-5 with 4 tough losses to ranked teams (and Ohio). They lost to Iowa by 7, Kansas by 7 and Texas by 10 and were blown out by OU. That is a great win. BG over GT, Miami over Cincy and NIU over BC were also P5 wins. They didn't mean anything to me as much as I don't care the last time you went to the bathroom. But I'm sure they were important to those teams.
