I didn't notice this announcement from last August, but the MAC has chosen to go back to a neutral location to host the MAC Baseball Championship. Also, the tournament will consist of the Top 6 teams. link
I really liked the regular season champ hosting the championship. Hope this actually makes money.

Probably no chance it lands in Indianapolis at Victory field.

Like football and basketball, the MAC baseball championship will be staged at a large venue in front of a minuscule crowd of family and friends.

Probably no chance it lands in Indianapolis at Victory field. Correct. The same reasons the MAC FB championship will never be at Lucas Oil and the MAC BB tournament will never be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse - because A) the MAC front office is lazy and likes events close to Clevland, B) they feel the need to have everything in Ohio or Michigan to appease the directional Michigans and Ohio schools, and C) they're probably banking on a larger draw ini Cleveland and Detroit areas because of greater proximity to more MAC schools (despite typically crazy low attendance). I suppose Victory Field would be cost prohibitive compared to Avon, Ohio's park (Independent Frontier League Lake Erie Crushers - 5,000 capacity), but that doesn't stop the MAC from having championships at Ford Field and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

I can attest watching Ball State play Kent at Kent last year in the championship was really fun. Their stadium was packed and quite a few Ball State fans there. The small size of the MAC stadium makes the tournament much more exciting.

Probably no chance it lands in Indianapolis at Victory field. Was hoping for Fort Wayne. More centrally located. But I prefer regular season champ hosts.

Since there is a cluster of MAC schools in the Cleveland area, it makes sense to have the championships there. Bigger market, more fans to draw from.

You're probably correct, but they don't need a huge stadium to have it in. Hopefully they come up with something sensible and not think they need to impress the world with a 35,000 seat stadium and then only have 6,000 or so attendees.

Many years ago BSU officials put on a huge push for Ft. Wayne to host MAC volleyball, basketball, and baseball championships. You can probably guess how that was received despiite it being a really good idea.
