Almost a mile and a half away from Read Fieldhouse. Not very convenient for athletes, but not a bad spot for fans. Getting into Read has always been a chore.
If they put a parking garage with it, a pretty good upgrade, but I'm not a fan of college venues being off-campus. Gives students another excuse to not show up.

The future of college venues is to price the students out of the equation and cater the conveniences to the paying alumni.

Ball State’s closest dorm is .9 miles to Scheumann (west side ticket entries).

Ball State’s closest dorm is .9 miles to Scheumann (west side ticket entries). But "back in the day", students could go in any entrance by showing an ID. I never walked around to the ticket entrance. And basketball was literally a quick walk across the street. Lafollette to the pool, then a heated short walk through the tunnel into the arena. Good memories.

Ball State’s closest dorm is .9 miles to Scheumann (west side ticket entries). 1.0 miles to tailgate...but no interest in walking through on way back to campus, which would count toward MAC required attendance numbers and save us buying a ticket to meet requirement.

Athletics Dept needs to create an incentive to walk back through. Or, create a tailgate environment at the stadium. Is what it is - make it happen.

Incentives:
- Select tailgating - group lotto invitationals - free all you can eat food and beer.
- We do not have the brand to draw BigTen like interest to watch games. However, every game has future NFLers, and future Power 5 players, playing at the stadium (both teams, every game). How do we translate the future to now, to draw football fans into the stadium? Since we have NIL, this can be done from a marketing and advertisement perspective.
Hope our AD and Dept are thinking out of the box. Please.

They’re never going to give anyone unlimited beer.

Indeed, it has sometimes occurred to me that watching Randy Moss score 5 touchdowns against BSU would have been the one BSU football game that I sort of wish I'd taken the trouble to attend. But that was 27 years ago. Not sure you could sell me on that angle going forward.

Move the track, field hockey, etc. over to the tailgating lot and put the tailgating lot where these athletic fields are located. Get it right next to the stadium and have them check into the lot as if going into the game. Will increase your numbers in attendance and may get more going into the stadium to watch the game.

As we found with our new, nicer, and bigger - it does not equate into larger attendance nor better teams.
