No doubt Lewis is going to be in a make or break in his 3rd year. Odds of keeping Jihad are probably slim but just as meaningful is who wants him. I would be surprised if he transfers in conference although Toledo might go after him. Outside the MAC who knows what attention he will get. I think Michigan with a new coach will be looking for lots of players. Jihad is gone, but he Us not Big 10 material with his turnover rate. He won't be able to maneuver around the basket against their bulk.

He probably can play P&R with option to roll or pop out. Can probably guard big forwards. His ball handling and turnovers would have to improve he'd not have the advantage against defenders he has now where bigger guys aren't quite as agile as he is, and he has the size advantage on switches.

Spot on RC. Cronin is super intense and got criticized for that at Cincy. It was a surprise when ucla hired him, because Westwood and prima donnas and soft and all that. Lewis saw how successful Cronin was despite his very hard edges so why not be able to do that at bsu. I know Lewis is very hard in terms of language and how he coaches but I also think he compliments those kids when they’ve earned it and he’s trying to teach them about life. Life is hard. But, he’s at a crossroads— this year is pretty much a total loss at this point so his options going forward are to either assess himself and decide maybe he could alter some of his approaches/messaging, recruit the portal like a beast, and become the coach and mentor he can be, or, he can not change a damn thing, continue to burn out and alienate players (if they really leave because of him and not NIL,) keep missing on kids who can’t play, underachieve and ultimately fail as a head coach. There is no in between for him. I thought he was a great hire and I’m not giving up on him yet, but a lot needs to happen. This is just a feeling and I could be way off here, but I tend to think Lewis might like a player who could not only take what he gives out but also throw some of it back at the coach. It's pretty well documented that that's the type of player he was, and he had one of the biggest son-of-a-bitch coaches in the land. I thought there were times last year when he praised Coleman beyond warrant, but I wonder if that was because Coleman, with all his flaws, was a little bit of that type of player. And I don't think it should shock anybody that the players Lewis inherited, however talented they might have been compared to what he's brought in so far, do not have that mental make-up. Hell, they came to BSU to play for James Whitford. You couldn't have two coaches who are more polar opposites emotionally.

They were recruited by Mr. Rogers and ended up playing for Oscar the Grouch. Lewis liked Coleman because he was cocky, fearless and not afraid to finish. We have no one like that on the current roster.

Well it was often claimed around here last year that once Lewis brought in "his players" who would be "tough" that the results would improve. Instead it seems to me that Lewis's players are not "tougher" than Whitford's, they are just "worse". And certainly, the results have not improved. And the excuse this year isn't the weakness of Whitford's players...it's the lack of them.

There is no excuse this year, just the reality that Lewis hasn't gotten it done, for whatever reason. He didn't replace really good talent with really good talent. He knows that all too well now but all he can do is ride out the rest of this season with what he's got, which isn't much. The lack of talent on this roster is on him and his staff, plain and simple. We'll see how he adapts and overcomes.

The MAC is the "fluffer" conference for the Power 4. Not just the Power Five but the upper half of D1 programs!

Lewis brought in a couple players good enough to start and upgraded Big Ben. Other than that, we just don’t have a bench that can keep our staters fresh during a full game or help when a starter is having a bad day. In our last game our bench was outscored 0-39! WOW! If we make the MAC TOURNMENT it will be because our starting five, with little help from the bench, will play nearly every minute the rest of the way. Come tournment time, the tank will be empty.

We don't actually have 5 starters from a quality standpoint. Bailey should be deep on the bench or not even on the roster. Anderson should be coming off the bench. Middleton should be coming off the bench as a freshman for sure. Pearson should be coming off the bench.

In other words, you would just trot out Jihad by himself and tell the ref, "My team is on the floor". Worth trying.

Add one high quality player to replace any one of those guys and we would be a top 5 team. Add two more players their equal to give us depth and we would be.
Anderson is carrying too large a load.
Bailey is a typical JUCO, needing to learn to play defense. I like seeing Middleton, Jones get minutes even if they are not quite there. It's what they need to be good starters next year.
