I know there are a lot of women’s sports followers among you but Caitlin’s so-called college scoring record is really apples/oranges trying to compare it to what Maravich accomplished. Start with how many 3’s would Pete have had and end with 130 games to surpass what Maravich accomplished in 83 games.

Pete would have averaged 80 a game if guarded by girls

ADD INS : In men’s basketball, starting from the high school level, through the NCAA and National Basketball Association, players use basketballs that measure 29.5”. Women’s basketball players, from high school to WNBA players, use a 28.5” basketball size in basketball games. The standard basketball rim used by NBA professionals, university, and senior high players has an 18-inch inside diameter and a radius of 9 inches. It can fit 1 NBA-sized ball with a 29.5 inches circumference.
Little easier to hit the same size rim with a 1" smaller basketball.
Something I didn't know - While the exact height of a women’s basketball hoop can vary depending on the level of play and the age of the players, the official hoop height for professional and college women’s basketball is 9 feet. For high school basketball, the official hoop height for women is 8 feet, while the official hoop height for men is 10 feet. Finally, for youth basketball, the hoop height can range from 7 feet to 8 feet for girls and 8 feet to 10 feet for boys.
Pete Maravich played 3 years varsity (83 games), did not have 3 point shot, did not have shot clock.

Comparing records in women's games to men's games is like comparing my rushing yards in pick up football games in our neighborhood to Walter Payton's yards in the NFL. I come out way on top, but what's the point?

Trying to compare players from different eras with different rules, different genders in any sport is a futile and really useless endeavor, but it's one of the endless streams of pablum that drives the sports talk radio/TV market. Engage if you want but really it's not worth anyone's time.
Just enjoy greatness where you see it.

I can't believe one person has seriously suggested Clark is a better player than Maravich; only that she has scored more points, which is a fact. It amazes me the amount of butthurt I'm reading and seeing about this.

Better player head-to-head against Maravich, obvoiusly not. But that's not the question. Is she better vs. her peers than he was vs. his? Now you're comparing apples to apples.

My daughter, in her earliest youth soccer days, was an absolute scoring machine. She regularly scored more goals than the other combined players of both teams. She was much better relative to her peers than Messi was at any point in the World Cup, or while at Barcelona. If that's comparing apples to apples. It was a lot of fun to watch, but had zero relevance outside the limited sphere she played in. Judging by media hype of mens vs womens athletic performance will mislead you. The unbiased stopwatch will tell you that women's Olympic champions would be competitive at the IHSAA boys track sectional level, but no higher than that.

If you're comparing your daugheter vs. her peers in her early days to Messi vs. his peers in his early days, then I agree.
