Beth Goetz is a member of the women's selection committee. If they were deserving I'm sure she stood up for us. While disappointing I don't think they got screwed. A 76 NET ranking is never going to get an at-large bid. If the MAC was going to get a second spot it would have gone to Toledo, not Ball State. MAC Women's basketball is just as weak as MAC men's basketball. Maybe weaker. We're not going to get two or three spots in the tournament at this point.
I used this analogy when arguing against some teams getting into the tournament ahead of us back when the men's team was worthy of an at-large bid (so very long ago) and it holds true for our women's team this season. You could get a bunch of us old farts who never played college basketball and could barely get up and down the floor and we'd lose to Connecticut and Notre Dame too. Just because you play them doesn't mean crap. How did you do against them? The ladies lost by 27 and 35 to those teams, so not very well. What would their NET have been if they hadn't played UConn and Notre Dame to boost their strength of schedule? Yikes.
You want to talk screwed, Indiana State on the men's side with a 28 NET ranking not getting in pretty much shows the NET is only part of it. They look at the whole picture and just because you play a few good teams and beat a few bad ones from power conferences doesn't make your resume worthy.

Sounds like ISU's Quadrant 1 1-4 records, plus a Quadrant 4 loss to Illinois State did them in.

I'd be interested to know why Miami dropped out. Did they accept a bid then change their minds? If that's the case, I'm not sure what the organizers could do. Everybody made travel plans, so that would have been an even bigger problem to change.

Crazy because JMU lost to both BSU and Toledo this year and has a NET ranking of 105
