It shouldn't be all that difficult to find a better point guard than Brittain-Watts. He's never averaged more than 2.0 apg. I mean, I'm glad we have him but I'm not sure he's even MAC average as a point guard and thus I don't feel like the starting point guard spot is completely locked down at this point. I'd say our top 2 point guards next year need to come from the portal. If Brittain-Watts is actually decent, maybe you could get by with one portal PG and one high schooler. But I think a freshman would have to be spectacular to have Lewis put him on the court to run the team (Middleton played out of necessity).

I hope Sparks takes the summer to practice free throws.
He will be the main component of next year's offense and will be seeing the foul line often.

If Jihad stays I’m not so sure we just go back to the philosophy of two years ago where we primarily feed Sparks in the post. He is a liability at the FT line. Jihad is a proven scorer and second team all MAC. We need to be more diverse in our attack and have guards who can also take over games.

If Jihad is back, that may change offense from his earlier experience, and Bailey, Pearson mean we'll certainly have other ways to score. But lots of inside out, pick and roll, second shots on rebounds all mean he gets shots.

We may not play to drive to the basket with Sparks posted up, but will have guard offense off his screening, and inside out action. He was a decent passer. Lewis if he has some depth will also want to play defense which produces scores Jihad and Sparks are not great individual defenders for all out pressure, but are long, and won't have to play 35 minutes...should be active. Plus we should have some bench and the option to rest one or both. They can play tough D inside, not worry as much about fouls, maybe. Bailey can be better on D, Pearson can defend, Jones plays hard, so acquiring some depth at guard would give us a chance to play better D than Sparks first tenure. Some depth, reasonable D, and Sparks rebounding might generate some points on the break. It will be a bit different.

Unlikely that Jones will average 29 minutes a game again.

Unlikely that Jones will average 29 minutes a game again. Yep. His experience and relatively steady ball handling could keep him in the 8 man rotation where he could substitute at 3 positions depending on match ups, but only if he had some quantum improvement would he start.
With Sparks back, he'd have to be more willing to shoot the open 3. With Sparks out of the lineup, he'd fit better in the 5 out offense we played last year.

Will be nice to have Sparks, Jihad and a now competent option of Hendriks providing quality minutes in relief. Not to mention (assuming no more portal entries to come) Doughty, and also Pearson and Jones covering the 3 and floating to the 4 when needed. That is as covered in the interior that the Cards have been in years IMHO. Just need another PG and a competent 3pt shooter to add to the guard mix.

If you’re playing defense with Sparks and Jihad in the game, who the heck do you cover? These two playing inside out, pounding the boards, what a fun game to watch. Add Bailey and Pearson to the mix and we will be a difficult matchup for anyone. Looking forward to 24/25!

Just need another PG and a competent 3pt shooter to add to the guard mix. Here is yet another covert attempt by a tool of the Hartford Mafia. These people never quit, and their tentacles are everywhere.

These people never quit, and their tentacles are everywhere. Like Scientologists? Worse. You watch. Swenocha's next post will be something like "Hey, isn't that Luke Brown kid back in the area and available?" As if he didn't know. Then the next thing you know, there will be another 40 page Luke Brown thread, fueled by constant posting from the secret back room of Richards Restaurant on Hwy 3, and Ivanhoe's telling us how he's the best point guard in Indiana HS history and he's currently at Indiana Wesleyan only because of some dark conspiracy involving Whitford, Stetson's coach, and the Koch Brothers.

The Ivanhoe's angle is how Herman got lured in by the Blackford Mafia, by the way.

We surely have a chance since Luke's NIL opportunities here in his homeland might make BSU the highest bidder for his services.
