It seems like all the Eastern Euro players in the MAC are pretty mediocre. No guards, just lumbering dudes who are back up front line players. True, but there are euro's who are NBA MVP, ROY and 1st team level. With human abilities being distributed according to the bell curve, it follows that there are a larger number who are high major college level, and still more that are MAC level. I've also always been intrigued by the idea of having a euro coach, primarily because of the advantages he would have in identifying and attracting euro talent. Probably would also have a different outlook on the game and style of play. Could be a lot of fun. What we we have lost if we had take a wild flyer on a euro coach, rather than hiring Thompson, Taylor or Whitford? Of course with one of our recent BSU AD's making the choice, we may have ended up with Borat, or Mr. Bean. |

Thompson not an AD choice. Billy one of the few Black coaches we could get. Whit, we didn't exactly bust the budget to get and keep, and was a pretty conventional choice at our budget level.
Every search since Ray has seen top candidates with interest in the job turned away due to salary.
Lewis maybe an exception, he was a targeted choice
