They have the right attitude! Can Ball State ever match this?

I’m fightened for the Akron basketball players. Who is going to protect them from this aggressive NIL effort? Makes you really appreciate Jeff Mitchell and his focus on protecting BSU from NIL

I’m fightened for the Akron basketball players. Who is going to protect them from this aggressive NIL effort? Makes you really appreciate Jeff Mitchell and his focus on protecting BSU from NIL Akron found a proven coach at our level, happy to be there. Well paid. Those MAC East powers have paid better for their coaching staffs and it's proven to work well. Success breeds success, if you continue to invest in it. Buffalo hit with an unproven coach, followed up with a great unproven assistant. Hit twice short term. Reminds me of our success, as does their result going the route of bargain coach too many times. We can match their hype and enthusiasm if we have success. It remains to be seen about their NIL. Odds are they'll continue to have a slight advantage. But FB will continue to compete for their donor base which is bigger than ours diluting their advantage.

Is the Akron effort totally basketball focused? That's all that's mentioned in the post.
I know folks always say you can designate your money to go to specific sports, but I tend to think efforts that are focused on one sport might get better results. Why dilute your efforts, as Feed the Bird seemed to be doing, by trying to support all university sports. Feed the Bird was supposedly supporting soccer and men's golf. Probably not with a lot of money, but I don't know if that might have gotten us another decent player out of the portal for football or basketball.

Akron advantage is probably there, maybe more in budget for staff in athletics than NIL. But it's an advantage. Hype easier with prior success. But this is the MAC.

That is the Akron Basketball only collective I believe Right but the donor base supports collective money for FB. I'm all for us promoting NIL, I just think Akron will do well, has a slight advantage. All said, Akron has hired well, they're tough to beat.

Any one else just a little surprised Jalen Blackmon of Stetson is still uncommitted. Would have thought a P5 school would have signed him by now. His 2023-24 stats: - 21.3 PPG - 43% FG - 38% 3's - 91% FT's - 2.9 REB's - 66 Assists - 67 TO's - 28 Steals

He gets to stay in the sunshine state. Would think that'll be a good fit for him.
