Who gets the money for the shoe contract? The coaches or the university? How much is that contract worth? We should use that money for NLIā¦.

Bottom line is NCAA needs to find some rules that help. Even with EE status and unions, there has to be legitimate restrictions related to academic obligations and real affiliation of player to the program, or it's just not going to be college sports, you'll lose donors and fans both.
That issue discussed briefly last two minutes.

Thanks for posting this. Gives a great understanding of what's going on.
After listening it it, I came away thinking of the baseball system of Class A, AA, AAA, and the majors, only in this case the amount of NIL your Collective has for your team determines where you fall in the spectrum. If you have no NIL, or next to none (like apparently BSU has), you are an A level farm team to be raided by everyone. If you have a few $100,000 of NIL; AA farm team that will be raided by most other programs. $500,000 to $1 million of NIL, you're AAA and will get to keep everyone but your best talent. If you're the $3 to $5 million NIL outfits the podcast refers to, you're in the major leagues and can raid any farm team you want for your roster.
A few fans attend Class A minor league baseball games, just not many. Must be a bitch when your favorite player gets promoted to AA and leaves town.
What I hope for over the next year or two is some filthy rich alumni of some obscure school will attempt to purchase a championship. I want him to be from some school that hasn't even been in the NCAA tournament for the past 20 years. I want him to spend $10 million or more and purchase blue chip players from all the Power 5 schools and then dominate an entire season of college basketball. Have all the "talking heads" on TV explain why Johnny Blue Chip from Arizona, Connecticut, Duke, etc. went to play at Podunk U. In other words, expose the travesty of what NCAA basketball has become. There's got to be at least one such filthy rich alumni out there willing to buy his team a championship.

Not that many 3-5 mil though. Probably 1.5-2 mil at low end(just counting NIL) puts you in the majors if you consider the number of major league teams.
Call 1-1.5 AAA. NIL
BSU probably AA...
The D2 teams are A and AA.
But the overall program funding makes most low end P4 schools so far above mid majors. They're the bulk of AAA. Have to factor that in.
