Sure hope these guys can play well and do much better than the projected 12 seed that they might get. No pressure on them, so hopefully they can give it their best shot. Proud of the team and really happy for Coach Fleck.

Proud of the team and really happy for Coach Fleck. Kent has the depth on anyone in the MAC. Don’t expect a BSU seed being very high. Bear in mind that conference golf championships are rotated among the schools and the “local” school has the advantage of their players being VERY familiar with their particular local course and normally play above their season-capability on that year’s championship.

I have no idea, but does BSU get a lot of access to the private course in Westfield (Chatham Hills) where this year's tourney was played, such that it would be a big advantage?

Three other MAC players scored better than the highest finishing BSU player. There are plenty of reviews and other resources to scout an upcoming course. That research, combined with some coaches and even players scouting the course (verifying the intel) ahead of match weekend can give really good player intel to engage a course. Weather, ever changing pin placements and other factors challenge all of the players, including familiar players. Bottomline, is the players have to still show up and play the course the day of the event, and the course will play slightly different each day.

Good point above about local knowledge. That means you've played the course with all the tournament pin placements and under different wind and weather.
Sometimes still hard, but you know not to go chasing pins where target area very small. Even a short course like Delaware CC here is a challenge just because of devilish pins.
