I watched one practice. That day Whit lit Jeremiah Davis up like a Christmas tree because Davis wasn’t paying attention plus was running his own offense, not what whit wanted. I felt it from the tunnel I was standing in. So there was passion, at least at that time. It just never really translated to games like we needed it to. Too passive and “seemed” to not be engaged enough. It appeared he wasn’t so much invested in winning as he was the process and analytical part of the game. Perfect for an assistant coach. He’s a good dude and I had high hopes for him.
Zach Hollywood’s suicide affected him and the team far deeper than we knew on the surface and after that whit became a mental health champion for those kids.

Don't worry Sherm, no chance an AD anywhere would pay attention to your ideas about coaching hires. Yes. Thank goodness BSU basketball has stuck to the tried and true script these last 24 years with no funny business!

Whitford, after a very rocky start where he needed a lot of OJT, had about as much bad mojo come our way as any coach. Glad he's back coaching. At mid level schools, and also higher, you have to be able to interact with the public and alumni. Should be a good assistant at this stop or at a higher level school.
