I can understand the rationale the article points out but it seems to also diminish the value in winning the regular season championship,
It's not like our regular season league champion can anticipate an NCAA bid.

I detest ANYTHING that makes the regular season irrelevant. After umpteen games in the conference the regular season champion should be rewarded.

The format has screwed us in recent years. We should have been given a bye to the finals, been spotted a 20 point lead, and had our cheerleaders as refs. Then we would have had fair chance to win.
