I tend to not work very hard, so how does that affect things? Business Consultant: "You need to work smarter, not harder." Herman (to himself): "Well I'm not capable of either, so I'll tune this guy out and go back to surfing the internet." I'm doing "research."

Could it mean our overall investment in sports is very small

It could also mean not to believe much of what you read on social media. People posting don't know enough about what they are blabbing about to give an honest account even if they are spouting statistics that make it look real.

Cardfan at 6’4 may be that last guard we’re looking for

Cardfan at 6’4 may be that last guard we’re looking for Not really quick, but offsetting that, we haven't had a player who struck fear in the hearts of the opponents during warmups.
With budget issues I am not sure we will be able to replace the number of shattered backboards we would need, those rim running terrifying dunks have not been seen since Chandler Thompson.

Not really quick and not a great ball handler but I’ll get you some boards and give some cheap fouls.

All he posts are different numbers stats breakdowns and all his info comes from public NCAa public Records... Its not this guys fault we do not understand it. This was sent me by someone who wants whatever it means to bee seen by many. I reposted here with the hopes of learning exactly what it meant before I pushed it on the masses because I know questions will be coming

Using the term investment loosely, if everybody did things the same way and accounted for it the same way, it does make sense this line item would be proportional to overall budget. Except that everyone is a little different.

Looks like our consensus is it could mean several things, but we can't tell. BSU budgeting takes a lifetime to understand. Probably, Tom Kinghorn knows the answers, but will give you a sly grin and won't tell you.

Some people use statistics, real numbers, that they innocently just don't fully understand. Others do it not so innocently to try to mislead people to believing their point of view or to hide reality. The numbers are real but aren't always black and white. Happens all the time and the public falls for it pretty much always. As the old saying goes statistics don't lie, but liars use statistics. You'll find a lot of that in today's politics.

I didn't see much agenda in the post.
The overall message looking at all the numbers reported on the DOE and NCAA sites is we spend less money than most MAC departments.
A largely accurate message. Hard to tell how much. Everybody likely has a little creative accounting.
Accounting is famously precise and everything balances, in theory should be able to be audited, but what the numbers mean still very tricky.
The difference between Finance and Accounting is figuring that out versus presenting the numbers and verifying they accord to the defined meaning.

We spend too much on football vs. ROI. We don't spend nearly enough on other sports. Mearns has penny pinched us into the ground and the athletic department has no margin for, well, anything. Shoestrings all around except for football. I will say Beth got some advances when Lewis was hired, but the overall support still lags, and the NIL isn't up to par. Not yet at least. Mitchell has been reorganizing the dept but the money just isn't there. It's good to see Worthen get some makeovers, but man, as wonderful as that building still is, it needs A LOT of upgrades and retools. It's been mostly neglected, kinda like the basketball program. (as Rob has pointed out many times in terms of dangerous seats and broken plumbing and whatnot)
