Great article! Very deep! How in the world can he afford to live in the San Diego area? Ultimately this is a story of an athlete whose disabilities prevented him achieving what other talents might have made possible. The Detroit fiasco is part of BSUish reality. That he has taken a bitter pill and found a way to enjoy what he can do and not let things ruin his life is admirable. What happens after FB for him is still potentially a sad story. We have to wish him well. Thank him. We did vicariously share the great days. We'll always wish that team could have survived better Hoke's decision to move on. |

Great article! Very deep! How in the world can he afford to live in the San Diego area? How can any of these guys afford to live anywhere given the meager pay they receive? It mentioned that in Amarillo he was working at an automotive repair shop. But San Diego? Yikes. I wonder if the teams can provide lodging, etc...? One thing's for sure: you've really got to love to play the game to go this route and stick with it as long as he has. |

Great article. Nate Davis is the player who made me a superfan of Ball State football and college football in general. In 2008, I was in high school at the time, and I remember my dad and I driving 2 hours to Ball State to watch them play the sellout game against Navy. Nationally televised, rumors that John McCain might make an appearance, and I think there was even a flyover that game (or am I misremembering?). The energy leading up to and during the game was palpable and Nate Davis and Dante Love were at the center of it all. It remains, to this day, one of my best sports memories and one of the best sporting events I've ever been to.
For better or worse, the disaster in Detroit prepared me to be a BSU fan for the long-haul.
Nate deserved better from NFL teams, but I get that it's a cutthroat business and you better be tops physically and mentally to make it.

Will never forget the Nebraska game and how Nate and the Cards tore them up. Nebraska QB in after game interview kept saying "that quarterback" meaning Nate and then beating IU 40-20. Dante got hurt but the Cards really took care of business the second half

Love his humility but I felt like we could play with anyone with Davis - he was a sharp shooter with the ball. Real gamer. Can’t imagine there ever being a better BSU QB. Given the importance of QB in football, maybe the greatest ever football Cardinal. Lifted the whole offense with his talent and play. There was a reason we were No. 12 in college football; a legit BCS contender - Nate Davis. Has never happened before or since.

No it was playbook problem as well could havr also been a root problem to other things.. It was well known then and still that many times what we saw Nate do was no where near the play called. He adlibbed alot and his arm allowed for him to do things that wouldnt have worked forcabyone else |

He adlibbed alot and his arm allowed for him to do things that wouldnt have worked forcabyone else He had some targets that could shake free from a defender or two. |
