The problem with hill is he is KJ walton.. He cant shoot... He might get lucky or have a great game where he hits a couple but its not likely... I love what he can do though

KJ may have been a better athlete, More raw speed. Maybe, less leaping ability. Not as good dunking and finishing. But that was his hands.
Hill is longer, has bigger and better hands, better able to control the ball. Including on his shots. And passes (admittedly a small sample...).
Hill just looks like a better BB player, Much better handle, and better shooter to me, still certainly not a great strength.
KJ was awful ball handler and shooter. Even short range jumpers. Had to get to the basket to score. Bad stroke. Often short arming, couldn't sometimes get outside shot off over defender. Not a bad FT shooter, easy to hold ball on that...
KJ wasn't really a guard. A great athlete, good in open floor and in lane going to basket.

I would agree but I want to see how we play against Dayton on the road and Indiana State at home. Are we that bad or are we playing to the level of the competition. It will be interesting to see how we feel about this team this time next week. Dayton is considered a top 50 team in various ratings. Indiana State if often around 200, similar to Georgia State. We seem to be farther down in the 200s. Which means it's very possible we'll just be adding 2 more losses. But, how we play could be important. I look at this team and I think we should be better, that we can be better than last year's version. My fear going forward rests on the memory that we were 15-16 last year, 7-11 in the MAC. We lost our top post player, Jihad, and we have not replaced him with anyone better IMO. We lost our top 2 shooters in Anderson and Bailey and again, IMO, we have not replaced them with anyone better. I'll grant you I'm just looking at offensive firepower there and those guys were all huge liabilities in other ways, which detracted from the good they could do on offense. Pearson, Hendriks and Jones are the primary returnees from last year but none of those are seemingly expected to play a bigger or more prominent role than they did last year, nor are any of the other holdovers. We have depth this year, but based on the first couple of games I'm not sure it means much. I feel a little like Lewis' messaging to start this year is similar to what he was saying at the start of last year. That team never seemed to get it together. Hopefully, the staff does a better job of teaching and the team does a better job of learning this season.

It is similar to last year that we needed time.
But last year we had freshman newcomers, an our depth disappeared. Lost Watts, Doughty, Ben played injured. Red shirt freshmen not as good as Burch and Bearden.
We'll be better this year with time, by end of season.
Not sure we're ready for Dayton though.

The 3pt shots are going to start falling. Mason took more shots than he has in a long while and Hart needs more time to keep taking shots building confidence. I really like Burch seems to know what he is doing Mickey will start hitting 3s. If and when the team gets in sync things will fall into place. Womens team much further along but still evolving with all the new faces on board.

KJs best year for us 2020 He played in and started 20 games scored 16 pt 5 rebounds.. In his ncaa 6 year career. His all time high assist game was 4 and blocks were 2 KJ had a reported 45 inch vertical but as oomh pointed out could not palm a b ball.. Not sure Mr hill is approaching 45 inches but his length and wingspan make up for it

Still killed people on the break, could defend when his head was in the game.
Hill has more skills, might compare to Sellers more than KJ if he had an outside shot. Big IF.

Hill was impressive against Georgia State in terms of his ability to get to and over the rim, but man, he can't finish well. He had two impressive dunks, but missed like 4 dunks and a bunch of shots around the rim. And as has been said, he can't shoot from outside. Hopefully things start going in the hoop when he's at point blank range. He's a freak athlete.
