Was apparently a candidate for the job at Liberty but pulled his name out.(whether by his choice or because he was told he wasn't getting the job, I don't know) He's not exactly thrilled with things at BSU.....

Looking at Liberty's new facilities, I can certainly see they committed on a level far greater than BSU has...... (and I think some things Rich was told were going to happen did not and will not happen) We certainly have upgraded our facility, but not to the level it could have/should have been done. Now we have to hope some of our former players who've gone professional will be able to donate some serious sums of money to continue what was supposed to have been done.

Yeah. It's just under what the Big Ten schools are building, and many times better than what the MAC and MVC are building. Lighting is another feature that their field has that we need desparately. Being able to have lights helps to work around bad weather to get in games, and allows the field to be leased out to summer programs for additional revenue generation.

Yeah we don't need everything Liberty did, but to not have included lights in our upgrade was just.... And didn't the original plans call for outdoor lounge type areas and more "parklike" landscaping features with the area between the baseball and softball diamonds? Right now it's just rough grass and ugly mounds of dirt.

Once again our administration comes up short when it had a chance to do something special. Now instead of just running his baseball program and all that involves Rich has to act as fundraiser if he wants anything else done.

My middle son was being recruited heavily by Illinois State, Illinois, Purdue, Evansville, Indiana State and Northern and I can tell you facilities were very important. Unfortunately, he was tragically killed in an automobile accident on good friday a year ago and never got to live his dream. He was going to commit to Purdue after we got back from our high schools spring baseball trip to Tennessee. Purdue new facility is awesome and played a big role into his decision though I am not sure if he would have kept his commitment with Schreiber stepping down. One note about Rich Maloney, BSU was not heavily recruiting Tyler but after my sons passing, Rich sent me a 2 page hand written letter expressing his condolences. Pretty special guy and we should be happy to have him represent our University.

Ball State is lucky to have him. I just hope we can retain him.

Is there a coach who BSU has been hired in the last twenty years that has the school has come through on all the promises made concerning improvements? What the hell does the AD expect when the administration backs off and the said coach starts looking elsewhere? Sometimes I think we are as good as we are in spite of the BOT and the AD not because of them.

Sometimes I think we are as good as we are in spite of the BOT and the AD not because of them. It is always a balancing act for the BOT and the broad interests of the university. Revenue stream neve solid or predictable do to state legislature funding etc. I have no doubt if the AD could have the funds our facilities would benefit greatly! It really speaks to donor contributions as a catalyst such as the new Venderly addition at the stadium.

Great facilities and lets' not forget that Liberty is a faith based institution and from what I know faith is very important to Maloney, thus the possible connection.

Unless of course the money is going to a $100 million green energy boondoggle. The most disgusting thing is the BOT member who pushed that through (along with Gora) is still there screwing up almost everything he touches.
