Board approves budget proposals but that kind of money comes from the politicians ultimately. And purely athletic expenditure won't fly.
Brick and mortar for sports did pretty well from the budgets that built Worthen in a past era. Harder to call lots of other sports buildings education expense and investment.
Politicians will approve a lot waste, but not risk any on sports. That money was never going to sports. We needed a new heating system. Much easier to get dollars there. The geo project can't be put solely on Gora and the board. Besides don't you know they still are convinced it is a great success!

Yeah I know it's not an either or situation. By the way the operational savings payoff period, compared to installing a new NG boiler, is now 127 years, and that assumes little to no maintenance costs. Oh well Jo Ann was able to put some green cred on her resume, which was her real goal to begin with. To bad she never got that elite east coast job she was seeking. I guess everyone now realizes she is a buffoon.

Great facilities and lets' not forget that Liberty is a faith based institution and from what I know faith is very important to Maloney, thus the possible connection. This is very true.

There is a Phase 3 of the Baseball stadium upgrade that hasn't happened yet. Unless, of course, that has been put on hold along with the basketball practice facility.

Maybe I've been told incorrectly but what I've heard is there is no phase three unless rich raises the money himself.

He should go. He deserves better than this.

I doubt that is exactly the way it is. Head coaches are always part of fund raising though. This more likely a matter of who takes the lead from here on the project fund raising.
Not sure what the current priorities are, but is quite possible phase 3 is lower priority than the things the AD is pushing right now, and if it is to be done sooner it might need money raised by the coach, not out of the ADs current fund raising activity.
The question is whether a donor who gets a visit from the AD is pitched for only a few major priorities and general support and whether phase 3 is in the pitch and what the priority is for undesignated gifts. But, even then if a donor steps up and contacts the AD he wants phase 3 done, it would be done.

A "32-36" campaign? Editor, please fact check. The new math... "Even before he reportedly interviewed for Indiana's open head coach job and received a significant pay raise in 2014, his $125,000 base salary in 2013 nearly doubled those of Eastern Michigan's Mark Van Ameyde ($75,000) and Toledo's Cory T. Mee ($76,000) in 2014." I still believe BSU should charge admission to attend baseball games. In Central Indiana, I haven't been to a HS game where I wasn't charged $5 to watch. MAC baseball is probably equivalent to Rookie League ball (Big 10 is low Single-A, SEC is high Single-A, IMO) and is definitely worth $5-$7 a game. Hell, when Purdue and IU had there old, crappy baseball parks, they were both charging $5 a game! We need revenue to offset support the existing facility and program costs. And yes, I do expect us to win the MAC every year.

That doesn't generate all that much revenue, but it is good principle. Make the admission almost nominal, maybe free for kids, and it at least covers some of the costs of game. Besides, it's not like free admission is bringing much benefit of any kind.

Besides, it's not like free admission is bringing much benefit of any kind. Didn't say it would, but it will offset some of the field maintenance costs. 2016 average home attendance per day (some DH days) was 297 fans. From my experience, 50% max are students, so 149 potential paid attendance. In 2016, if BSU charged $5, like most HS games, the gate could've brought in $13,345 to help offset some costs. $6 brings in $16,092. $ 7 brings in $18,774. Evansville charges $7 a game. They average our attendance per day, but also get in 7-10 more home dates than BSU.

I'm sure part of the free admission argument is that players parents should get in for free. There are 11.7 scholarships to be split between 35 players, and parents do pick up a considerable amount of the rest of the tab. Give them season passes.
This is great entertainment. For $5, you're seeing some of the best talent in the Midwest, so of which will be playing pro ball in the coming years. It has a value. BSU needs to charge for games.
