Considering the epically bad season last year, Neu has to be at the top of my list. Injuries, yeah, but holy crap the defense was more than abysmal. At least the MBB team is respectable. "After further review", I really think I have to agree that, coming in as the new AD, I'd have to perceive that Neu would be on the hottest seat ( even though he was on the panel that hired me ). That's not my choice of persons to be on the hottest seat, but again, as someone just walking into the program, how could you view it any other way ?

Please tell me the AD wasn't hired by a panel of coaches. That can't be true.

Please tell me the AD wasn't hired by a panel of coaches. That can't be true. Some coaches were on the panel. Neu was one of them. The panel wasn’t entirely made up of coaches, but yeah, the Ad has in her hands the fate of some coaches who were on the search committee. What could go wrong? She won’t favor those coaches, right?

Oh my god. Those coaches are going to factor personal job security over almost everything else and recommend a perceived indecisive or weak candidate. From personal experience hiring by committee is always the worst method possible. What a place to work, no wonder no one at BSU is ever held accountable for moronic decisions.

Kid, I agree Neu's seat is red hot. He needs to produce 5 wins this year or there will be a posse looking to run him out of town. We have all heard about the great recruits he has brought in and I believe it is nut cuttin' time.(Keep in mind Neu inherited a mess from Lembo and it just takes more time to rebuild a football team of thirty viable players plus reserves than a basketball team of seven plus.) If one looks at the time and schedule that Whit was given, and the lack of quality basketball play in the conference I just can't get enthusiastic about 19-20 wins. He HAS to show the fans and the conference that he can win conference tournament games and be a factor in the NCAA representative the MAC sends to the NCAA tournament.

Please tell me the AD wasn't hired by a panel of coaches. That can't be true. Don't worry. The committee screens a pool presented by the search firm, may have some preliminary contact with a subset of the pool, and the entire committee present finalists to the President, 99% his decision.
If I was worried about anything it would be that I think the Final interviews were with the President and VP level administrators who may have had the last word of advice to the President.

Oh please, it doesn't matter who makes the final decision if only a certain type gets through the initial screening.

Believe me, the pool of qualified applicants is not that large, and the committee was large enough it would not be dominated dominated by a men's and women's coach who have many other concerns that are different to start with. The committee is very business like. Worry most about the applicant pool and the final choice.

BSU0....you truly don't think directionally that Whits program is better off than Neu's?? It might only be slight, but you would have to say that Whit's is at least trending upward and I'm not sure you can say that about Neu's.

Not group think if you trust the President, the alternative to a president paying attention to others group recommendation is JAG.

Not group think if you trust the President, the alternative to a president paying attention to others group recommendation is JAG. WTF are you talking about ? A like thinking group, with the same self interests, recommending candidates that most benefit the group is the last thing you want. They are going to skew toward the candidates with the lowest standards. How dumb are you ?
