So how was the oline play? Some have told me it was good others said it was really bad. Probably in between. I didn't think they were too bad.

Neal sucks. A hometown kid who thinks entitled to the quarterback position. No improvement and no one to compete against him. Now we see the losses mounting and a very bad team. Live with it. No Way, BS statement.

Neal seemed to throw high on most of his passes towards the sidelines. This was a home game, and I'd think our QB would be used to the field crown and have a better touch on his passes to the sides.
Frustrating how many over thrown passes we saw yesterday.

Frustrating is good description. Still. Rather have those overthrown passes to the sidelines instead of to the opposing team over the middle, we saw that more last year and year before, but I thought Neal was a little off, too. He also was hurried and probably throwing a couple of them away instead of trying to throw into coverage.
We needed a very good game offensively to win and the difference with last year is we can imagine that happening. Progress of sorts.

In addition to Riley being off on his home field, did anyone else wonder about the number of times our skill position players would go to make a cut and lose their footing? I know that's going to happen occasionally, but it seemed to happen a lot yesterday. I began to wonder if there was a footwear issue. NIU didn't seem to have that problem.

If they say we are using the right shoe, then I'd send them some video our BSU players losing their footing, and tell them to fix it.

From a different perspective, I took a look at the NIU fan site and they were upset their pass rush (which is very good) had so much trouble getting to Riley. They feel our line and Riley did a great job against it. I still think he was under a lot of pressure and it rushed his throws. They wish Riley was their QB. They are not very complimentary of Childers.

Yet Childers made the plays necessary to help beat us, and they are 3-0 in the MAC.

I felt like most of his overthrows were not the result of pressure as much as it was he was just off. I pointed out the problem with receivers slipping and falling the past couple weeks. It is to the point where it can’t just be coincidence, something is wrong either with the footwear or the players themselves.

Might be just my NIU bias but it seemed like Riley had a lot of time to throw, at least, more than most of our opponents. I thought Ball State did a good job nullifying our pass rush. Your QB overthrew some, which helped, but also made some nice throws complemented by good WRs that came away with the ball more often than not. I got the impression of watching Dan Fouts- 3rd and 10? No problem, first down.
I loved the gatling gun t-shirt thing which was WAY better than our ATTEMPT at that at Huskie stadium.. Cheerleaders did a really good job too.

The o-line injuries are a real problem. We don’t have enough quality depth. Not getting the JUCO transfer was a big miss for us as well. He would have been a “huge” plus. By the JUCO transfer we failed to get, are you referring to Wille Allen who went to LA Tech, or would that be Thomas Lopez out of New Jersey? What happened to Thomas Lopez anyway. He had that great background story that ESPN did a story on, but I don't see him on the BSU roster. Did he end-up going somewhere else too?

Lopez was here but then had to return home to deal with family issues.. He would have helped a lot

I also like the fact our band plays the fight song for the visiting MAC teams. God luck to NIU the rest of the seaso.
