Just in terms of rankings (without regard to competition), MU is comparable to NIU and CMU, EMU and WMU are comparable to IU and WKU (games in which we scored 10 and 20 points respectively), while UT and OU are KSU bad. So you may be right that things will kind of even out. But my problem is more what I see on the field. We rely way too much on Neal's legs. I wouldn't have a problem if we were relying on his arm but it's his legs that are being used to pick up key first downs, extend drives, etc. He's the second leading rusher on our team by a long shot and this is supposed to be a team with a stable of stud RBs and WRs. Why the hell is our QB running so much? So maybe we're racking up some yards and scoring some points, but the reliance on Neal running the ball tells me the offense is not working as planned. Hall, our supposed All-American candidate, is our third-leading receiver (about 8 ypc), again considerably behind Miller and Lacanaria. Kudos to those two for the job they've done, but the inability to consistently and effectively engage Hall in the game plan (and I do realize he's had several drops this year) is again a sign to me that we are not effectively using personnel (and I've already had my little rant about Dunner's lack of use). So, yes, I do think the offense is an issue. stud wide receivers?

They were supposedly studs when we recruited them. Now they spend most of their time watching from the sidelines.

Well, Neu isn't going to fire him. He's just not. The family ties are too strong. Besides, if he were going to fire him it would have been after last season. At that point, Neu clearly recognized that Joey was an issue despite the numerous injuries. Think about that: Despite the massive injuries we had last year, which Neu clearly could have used as justification for our offensive crapfest, it was still obvious to him that Joey was an issue. But instead of firing him, he did the good-guy, family friend thing - moved Joey laterally, removed part of his responsibilities, allowed him to keep his title and shouldered more responsibility himself. The problem now becomes that maybe Neu ain't such as great play caller himself, but since he's committed to the Lynch family he can't actually go out and hire someone to do the job properly. We'll live or die with what we got. I agree. They are either all going or all staying.

With the progress we seem to be making, I do not think it to be a good idea to introduce coaching changes now. The chemistry on the team appears to be good and I would not want to shake up what is solid team unity. If we can pull out five or so wins we can allow a couple of under performing coaches a way to exit gracefully and name their replacements while maintaining a locker room without controversy.

And that requires an upset win. Odds favor us.
