How long do we play the youth card? When your roster is 65-70% (or more) junior/senior, we’re flip flopped. Until guys have a couple seasons of quality time & into they’re third year I would think you can say we’re young.

So even though most of those guys played a lot of football last year with all the injuries , and our offense is full of veterans, and our secondary is the same as last year, and we’re 7 games into this year, we’re still too young to be consistent? At some point these guys gotta grow up. Or do we just excuse the same mistakes away? Or, are they not being coached well enough to overcome the initial inexperience? I kinda think they should have grown into some things by now. It’s not still game 1 in August.
We are for sure young in terms of age and eligibility, but we’ve gotten some game experience.

How long do we play the youth card? Well, they still are one of the youngest teams in college football. I would say next year we shouldn’t be using the youth card.

Agreed I think they have done enough this year to keep Neu off the seat for now as long as the wheels do not fall off. Next year though needs to be low end 6 wins if not more. There should not even be a discussed extension till that happens.

It’s odd, but I feel both encouraged and disappointed at the same time. We’ve played a lot better, which has put us in position to win every game but IU. We could easily have two more wins. But we don’t because the offense has under performed. I thought the o would be pretty damn good but it’s the d that has impressed to this point.

Exactly I figured we would still bitching about the D and outside of a few bad news bears moments they have been pretty good.. Deff good enough we could have at least 1 more win had the offense some hyped so much did their part. The next five games though are going to take the offense we thought we had plus continued Good D play to even get a couple. The D is going to get scored on more coming up. I really hope its not at the level of last year, Im just looking for a way to scrape out a couple more wins. 5 wins would exceed any hope I had for this season. 4 would be blah but what I expected. Staying at three would be disappointing but it would avoid the nightmare scenario I thought could happen pre season

Another Oddity is that all the young guys who are showing out have came from the defensive side... Thomas, Allbright, Jenneette etc

How long do we play the youth card? Aren't we getting a whole new batch of freshmen next year?

I think Ball State has patented this feeling.

It’s our slogan. “ we’re ball state— we’re encouraged and disappointed!”

Guys our defense to this point has been better than I think any of us thought, The offense is now the problem. Neal is definitely better but he is not Wenning (dam'n). The o line is to me the weakest part of the team. Gilbert needs a break out game hopefully it is Saturday.(I think it goes back to line play)Receivers are much better than last season but where are Neu's recruits? Special teams still not good but look much better when Hagee kicks one thru from over 40 & we are not giving up Tds on punts!

Best way to disrupt a passing game is rush the passer. If I am in the coaches room I am willing to take the chance. Dropping back one extra coverage man will just mean he goes to a receiver covered one on one. I vote for pressuring the passer aggressively enough to make him nervous and question when we are coming. Rush often and rush HARD.
