Frozen and I have run ins with yellow shirts the last couple years.. They do not want the kids playing on the hill. I get it if the hill is full but most of the time it is not. Too strict there.. The nice pathway Jackson mentions also pisses me off. They will not let you enter and go up the blachers. You must enter from the backside and go all the way down.. You like what I did there I'm a big fan of rear entry, just don't understand why they'd put all that money into a nice paved walkway and then prohibit anyone from using it.

Ball State has added a number of stupid rules. You can not leave the stadium and return. You can not bring your own stadium seat, must rent one of theirs for $10. I hate stupid rules and these are stupid! I say this as a forty plus year season ticket holder. Ball State needs to become more fan friendly, just serving beer doesn’t put butts in seats. Very disappointing. The no re entry thing is becoming common place across most schools

Not related to the tailgating but the gameday experience is seriously lacking as a whole. A few years back I was walking around the aluminum bleachers and I pointed at the entryway to get to the nice paved walkway in front of the bleachers and commented to my friend I wondered why they did all that work to make that look nice but then had security guards preventing anyone from walking down there. One of the security guards saw me point his direction and he started walking towards us. He came up to me and insisted that I empty my pockets. I assume he was checking for beer or something, but I was pretty furious. I've only been back for a game or two since then. I would have refused and instantly asked for his supervisor. Unless he could provide a good reason to search you, they don't have that right. They probably do, the ticket is a license to enter the stadium, but it is not like a public park, I'd guess it is subject to all the BSU rules and regulations. Whether you know them or not.

And they wonder why people that go to IU love IU. Even though their football team sucks, their tailgates rock! Hardly any restrictions.
Let kids have fun while in college. If needed separate student tailgating from "family tailgating." While not many students from tailgate go to the games, I know for a fact that BSU students love to tailgate. Placing restrictions on music (DJ's or amplifiers) is asinine. I get that some of the music may have been crass, but surely they should be allowed to play music. A better compromise that if the music is vulgar then they should be kicked out of the tailgate. Now they've alienated a good portion of students who always showed up for tailgate and their impressions of BSU are diminished as a result.
Ball State is too focused on their image and not focused enough on long term gains (which are making sure kids are allowed to have fun, make good friends, make memories etc.) That's how you get loyalty and $$ in the future. Which is something IU does very very well.

They need to spend some money and put real restrooms behind the student section. They should also let fans walk on the walkway in front of student section. My wife and I like to walk round the stadium at the half. Again, silly rules. Barriers blocking the walk. Be fan friendly if you want people to come.

Everything is a gray area with you. Not me, it's the murky reality of most things. And of course when I represent a client in the courtroom it is black and white in their favor...whether it is or not.
Trouble is in the real world, it is better to avoid that mostly. Too uncertain the outcome to trust a judge or jury unless you have to.
And when you negotiate the art is quite often to find the part that really is black and white, avoid compromise there. But you usually have to look at it from the other side's perspective, your head hurts a little, but you can then find the gray and look for a win win solution.

They need to tailgate in an area where students have to walk through the turnstiles after they get out of the tailgate. Or at least try to steer them that way. Then attendance counts...

I believe it also registers as two admissions. Last game, I had four tickets, and me and my friend went out at halftime, then came back in with a different ticket.

I know the frats are pissed.. I read something about amplified music. It got to the point that the frats were basically hiring djs to come out. I did not have a problem with it but lots of normal people were upset about the cursing etc. It was getting pretty wild Last year, they began pushing the fraternities closer together. It caused some friction. The final straw came at Homecoming last year. Two groups (without any of their alumni present), had the music cranked, some "colorful" words were being exchanged, and some full beer cans were chucked back and forth. Some families got caught in the crossfire of the full beer cans and the profanity. Some calls were made to the president's office. The following week, the Homecoming behavior, plus a few other issues on Riverside from earlier in the year led to a social probation for not the two fraternities, but all of them. Social probation was lifted in the spring. The new tailgate policy is a carryover from last year, based on the behavior of a couple of fraternities, not all of them. Rather than imposing sanctions on the troublemakers, lets make everyone pay the price. The decision was made at the Administration Building, not the AD office.

I totally get the family side of it.. I started parking away from the tailgate lot.. I hang out in the paved lots or park at Northside. If I do end up in the grass I just avoid those first few rows and its never really an issue. I do not really shelter my kids too much though that being said if my wife or kids ever get pelted with a full beer can there is going to be hell to pay
