It’s awfull frustrating with two wins last year and three this year. I can understand last year, hard time this year. The ND game gave such promise. The WKU game brought questions. The IU collapse is hard to take. The records of the teams we beat are all worse, yes worse than ours. So, what are expectations for success in 2019 - four wins? Maybe five wins in 2020? We should expect more! What to do, not sure, but status quo is not acceptable. The AD needs to set goals and they must be meet and they need to be public. A MAC Championship ever four years would be my expectations, of course that assumes the coach is given the resources to succeed. So a reasonable expectation for you in an 11 team league is to win the title once in 4 years. Not 1 in 11.
Not arguing about the desire to be above the average, but wondering about that resource part, where our budget is in the bottom part of the conference.
And do you expect a rebuild to accomplish that in how many years? We clearly were at the bottom of the heap to start.

THAT rm IS WHY I POSTED IT. Quite frankly if it were my decision I have no earthly idea what I would do. Here is the lucky part for this years recruiting class.. Its a small class we 4 maybe 5 potential studs. Our track record shows we would normally lose 2-3 of them no matter the season. We need to somehow keep one of the PA receivers and the good QB. If others bail we can likely replace them with maybe a little less on paper talent or really hit Jucos hard.... Hitting the Jucos may actually be the better move this year... Get o line men, get d line, men and sell our souls and take some chances with a corner and safety

We do need Jucos at this time to plug holes, especially if this staff continues to be unable to develop the young talent we go have. This team appears to have very little leadership.

What percentage of JUCOS generally pan out into starters, does any one have real numbers? It seems to me it is a small percentage but I could be way off.

Wilborn is a starter. Ropati plays a lot. Lopez left. We’re 2 for 3 in success this year. If you target the right jucos they will play.
Paul schudel was successful with the jucos he took.

By the fourth year of his recruiting we should have a title, no less than his fifth year of recruiting. How the heck did EMU get to be that much better than the Cards? Look at the progress Buffalo has made, how? Toledo is the consistent winner, how? Is it that damn hard to look at other successful MAC teams and answer these questions? It’s not just about the money, though it helps. If you, the University is not willing to do what it takes to be successful in the MAC are we as fans supposed to be satisfied with a loser? I hope not! Worse yet, do we shift our football support to another D1 team? I live only 20 miles from ND. I have turned down ND tickets to attend Ball State games.

It’s not just about the money, though it helps. How many of those teams have a history of a championship every 4 years? OK. Assume all do, or can, and there is some easy answer, how exactly do we beat the other 7 teams EVERY other 4th year? And again, how many of those wizards do it on our budget? I like the ambition but it isn't realistic, and not for a coach starting from scratch at the bottom. A school might do it once, but can we really expect to capture lightening in a bottle like this.

MAC football is too competitive to expect desire alone to lift you to the elite. Very hard to unseat others who are there. They ain't going away.
The whole pack wants that. Why expect us to do it so easily with significantly less resources.

For God's sake, he's still got 2 years left on his contract. Don't do anything until the end of next season. Don't do anything until his contract is up... This is Ball State not Ohio State. Take a deep breath and let him finish his first four seasons.

So we don’t care if we’re any good because we’re ball state?

So we don’t care if we’re any good because we’re ball state? The MAC is a stepping stone conference, it is only fair to give him 4 years to decide on his future.
