I guess it's the same offense but it looks different, apparently with a different QB making the reads and decisions.
I wish Neal had a little of Plitt's guts/decision-making/whatever it is, or that Plitt had a little of Neal's ability.
I do wish we'd see Paddock in the second half. It's football so injuries are always possible, and he is a freshman so mistakes are more than likely, but Toledo's D doesn't look like anything special. If the kid's close to being ready, doesn't seem like it would be a bad time to give him a shot.
The defense was horrible early but seemed to settle down some. If Plitt would have hit that pass to Lacanaria and avoided that interception, it's conceivable we'd still be in this game.

OK, so a ton of mistakes and we still ain't good, but where the heck is our horizontal passing game? Plitt's not great but at least he knows a little about how to throw the ball over the middle.... We just do not execute well and that’s gotta point back to coaching. If you were talking defense today I'd agree more easily. Offense two weeks ago, I'd say OK. But. There are too many changes and a short week for offense to NOT be subject to some errors in execution.

Players who've been playing all season lining up in illegal formations is not the result of a short week of preparation or personnel changes.

Plitt back out there... sigh. Although I will say he’s been pretty good this drive.

Players who've been playing all season lining up in illegal formations is not the result of a short week of preparation or personnel changes. Those mistakes can fairly be criticized. But, there are plenty of things about execution tonight that do relate to short week and personnel in combinations not used before.
And when players screw up royally, but have not done that all season, I am reluctant to always say that is coaching. If they have been doing that all year and are still playing, I'll blame the coach...
But. If something is different tonight, it could indeed be some coaching failure to have a team ready, but that failure would also be related to getting players ready to play who have not, and a relatively short week.

This is the tempo, type plays/scheme that these kids need to play. It’s just they need to have reps with it.

Plitt has played pretty well tonight and the offense play calling has definitely been more aggressive. Thank goodness! I do like this offense better than the slow and predictable short pass and run into the line. We have played better than I expected. At the very least it looks like we haven’t given up. It’s a loss, but not all bad.
