Lets hope your right.. Akron is not very good Still not sure why you say this. Akron has 4th highest Sagarin MAC just below us. The "Recent" rating higher than ours. I expect a tough game. Oh yes, if we can beat the fourth highest Sagarin in the MAC then our "wait till next season" is saved.

Cards are a 3 point favorite. KenPom has Akron 100, Cards 109. I think this is a “u-pick-em” game.
Cards 72-68.
I’m predicting BSU goes 1-2 in this 3 game stretch

And if the return of injured players is to be a springboard to up our game we need show that by beating teams that are at our previously "not very good" level, especially at home. If he wants to say that, say that. He said Akron isn't very good. I look back 15 years and over that time being the third highest rated team in the MAC looks like a good place to be, and better than "not very good" to me. Any team that can get to that point over time is doing better than "not very good."
Akron has achieved that as much as anybody and has been a pretty good Program recently, maybe this is not very good compared to the last few years for them.
But surely our goal is to be in the top 3 or 4 teams every year and win our share of championships. We will do that if we can stay at this level.

Oh yes, if we can beat the fourth highest Sagarin in the MAC then our "wait till next season" is saved. Everybody is disappointed with the losing streak. We all want that and barring a big upset in MAC tourney play getting us to a Final game win , a great season is not now going to happen. Everybody wants great. But this can be a good season and why not enjoy that? Top 3 is good. We do that well every year, I am pretty happy. We will win our share of big games if we can do that.

I do agree I'd be happy with being consistently a top 3 MAC team. However, we are in yr 6 and still not seeing that. This yr the Cards will basically have to come close to winning out to earn a MAC quarterfinals bye and The Cards haven't yet earned a 3 or higher in the MAC. 2 4 seeds, one MAC semis appearance. How long is too long to make excuses and keep playing the wait until 2020..2021 game?

in terms of what Id be happy with, I'd be happy with Sallees first 6 years for the men regular season wise, minus the excessive choking in the quarterfinals.

Oh yeah, how often does that get you to post season, that's not even worth a set of steak knives.

All top 1/2 in Massey composite and most rating systems.

Your just arguing wording and thats fine we will agree they are decent MAC team. Now This decent MAC team has a coach that has been there what 2 years? and it appears they are already at our level. How is this possible to hire two apparently good coaches in a row. He is going to have them back at the top next year.

Stats don’t always tell the truth. There is no way the MAC is better now compared to 88-2000. No way. The conference has jumped over the Missouri Valley and other Mid Majors due to the better teams jumping ship for high major conferences. The Missouri Valley has been killed by this and you can add Butler to the mix. Quite frankly, there are a lot of bad basketball teams out there right now but to say the MAC is better today is simply not true. Other then Buffalo, I have not been impressed.
We probably have the second best roster in the conference but we are no where near any of our better teams of the 90’s. We used to recruit kids who were ranked in the top 100 nationally every year from 88-2001 and you just can’t say that anymore. We rarely had any kids that were above 300 and now, our average recruit will be in the high 300’s with our better players being in the upper 200’s. Huge disparity and it blows my mind how much some on here have forgotten. Buffalo is good but I can name 6 teams from the top of my head from the past that were better. We have 3 Ball State teams, 2 Kent State teams, 2 Eastern Michigan teams and an Ohio team with Mr. Trent that were better than Buffalo today. Hell, we were runner up to Eastern twice with Bonzi and I believe Bonzi and company would beat Buffalo. My opinion, but the MAC has regressed!

He did take over with a much easier rebuild, an established rep as HC, at a winning program. Could that make a difference? How Akron operates, paying top dollar they should do better.

Dont forget they lost almost all of Dambrodts recruits that first year and if I remember correctly they also had a transfer or three. So this guy had to get at least half a roster and he has them in the top 100. You also say they are already according to some rankings one of the "good" teams in the MAC. Weird 2 years
