Un. Freaking. Believable. Miami didn't have a field goal in the last 11:35 of the game AND STILL WON. And why wasn't Hazen, a 44% shooter from 3, in for the last play when we needed a 3? Hazen hasn't put up enough threes to know if he can really shoot or not, but yeah he probably should have been on the floor. We needed a 3 to tie. Josh Thompson was in. I'll take Hazen's 3 point ability over Josh any day of the week.

The other interesting trends in Tarheel's table are Ball State has taken the second fewest 3-point attempts (behind only NIU) and have made the fewest 3-pointers of all 12 teams. Apparently we know we aren't very good shooting the 3-ball or else we would take more of them. Also, if you are depending upon a 3-point shot late in the game, or to keep you in the game, it's not us.

So does CMU & Toledo's plan what we really want to try? I really feel ISU & Eville play that way too.

Blah. That's all I can think of at this point. Guy is 6 years in and 'it's the little things' that are causing them to not win.
This is as good as it gets with JW.

I should clarify. By little things, I meant not shooting well, not playing very good D (50% FG at the half) and being 2nd worst in the MAC in turnovers. Aside from those little things, we good.

And a GOOD coach has the little things locked down. Especially by year six. But, fundamentals, no biggie!
As long as he likes our effort and we play the right way it’s all good.

Early in the season when Teague was getting in foul trouble Whitford actually said "He reaches in way too often, it's been a problem since his Freshman year. I just can't get him to quit doing it......". Really, you sit his ass down and throw him out of practice until he stops. It's not that hard and it should have been a non-factor two years ago. Little things all add up to big problems, primarily a breakdown of discipline and poor fundamental play. Those are the hallmarks of every Whitford team.

Poor discipline. Lack of truly preaching fundamentals. (You can talk about them but do you demand them?). Poorly run offense with no shooters = extremely poor offensive efficiency so we struggle to score. Poor/slow/late adjustments that don’t occur until we are too far behind the 8-ball and can’t recover. Playing defense with our hands I dead of our feet so we’re constantly reaching and grabbing. Etc. etc. etc.
