UConn “delusional” if it wants to be AAC football-only member, source told @stadium. MAC & C-USA also not interested so Huskies have to be FBS independent. Army & BYU top candidates for AAC, but league may stay at 11 unless ESPN sees more value w/12 teams

Per Brett McMurphy on twitter, the MAC and C-USA told UCONN no to football only. That would make no sense. They don't bring anything football wise and get a cut of an already small pie.

...that B-side (old guy alert) says a lot about the MAC too. Desperate.

Ok, hear me out on this.....
Tampa Bay has suck attendance for their baseball team and are considering going “halfies” with Montreal (who also had suck attendance when they had a baseball team) in a split of all their home games in a combined-city franchise that will have more support and more money to b3 competitive with the major markets.
Since MAC teams also have suck attendance in their football programs and don’t have the money or talent to be competitive with other mid majors, much less the Power 5 conferences, why don’t schools “pair up” and field one team with half the home games at each venue? You could pool money and go after better coaching, save money on recruiting, get larger audiences for the three home games (each school already has an underutilized facility) of each school, merchandise the apparel of the combined school logos,.....it’s an endless marketing opportunity!!!!!

Imagine if Longwood University and Morehead State united. College sports would reach its climax. I can practically guarantee that at least half the audience will get larger. Merchandise sales will erupt; really explosive opportunity there. They might still have suck attendance though...

I wondered when the next Longwood comment would be made. The above answered my question. I truly did not see it coming. You all are sick.

BSU/EMU combined football? Whew.....the thought of it! You risk creating a critical mass of fan disinterest that is mind-boggling, awesome and terrifying. Such a thing could...I don't know....knock the Earth off its axis, or ? ? ? ?

How about moving BSU home games to Lucas Oil. I would hope we could outdraw the Indy Eleven if we were closer to the alumni base.
