Don’t see any discussion about the Star Press article revisiting the 2011 game vs. IU and it’s positive impact on the U, alumni and fans. Surprising.

Ball U had more fans at the game than TSIB. It was a wonderful day in Ball State football history. That a MAC team, any MAC team beats a Power5 school is unreal. They spend 5-10 times what a MAC school spends on football and have a similar scale of investment in stadium, indoor facilities, and staff. It should never happen! It’s about heart and willpower. MAC teams will continue to have the heart of a lion on numerous occasions during the course of the football season. Play like we did against ND last year and we win. However, odds are not on our side. But, I believe.

Indiana has significantly upgraded their facilities, recruiting budget, and coaching staff budget since then. It hasn’t payed off to a major significance yet, but we have been a lot better the past 4 years.

IU did not have any excuses when Lynch was not the HC and they were lucky to win in Muncie. If Hoke doesn't insert Davis at QB after a meaningless second half interception by IU we win goin' away (it broke our momentum and we never regained it). But Hoke pulled a boner and IU won by one...a missed extra point. Glass said he was never coming back to Muncie.

Glass wasn’t AD then.

Lewis came into to game and ended up being a great QB.

Interesting comments, only two about the 2011 game. Guess it wasn’t as important win as the reporter thought it was.

It was 8 years ago. Momentous as it was we had only two more good years after and have been in the tank since. It was a great day, but we didn’t capitalize on any of it as a program. Too many washout recruits after that.

Surely, Stan made him do it?

If Parrish made the decision Hoke as a head coach should have said no. I questioned the Davis substitution at in the stands at the time it happened. It made no sense at all. Lynch had a great first half putting 23 (should have been 24 ) points on the board.

It was basically just a bunch of anecdotal stuff with no concrete evidence that the win had any long-lasting positive impact on the U, alumni or fans.

I will never forget that night, sadly after staff changes and the loss of key players. BSU was not and still has not recovered. There was so much attrition and questionable recruits we just bottomed out. Neu inherited a mess and if things do not change this year he could leave one for the next guy.
