Very surprised by the pathetic attendance for this game. Two large universities playing in an NFL stadium in a metro area of well over a million people and only an hour away from each campus! Says a lot about both Universities fan bases and apathy toward two long suffering programs! What was the attendance number.. I thought attendance was pretty good Just under 22,000

I didn't think the crowd was that bad but that figure is not good, especially when you consider last year's Bloomington game supposedly drew 40,000+. Since I figure about the same number of BSU fans traveled to Bloomington last year and Indy this year, seems to me that was probably about 19,000 IU fans that didn't show up this year.

My takeaways: 1. Penix reminded me a lot of the ND QB last year in that he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and, even when he did their receivers helped with drops. That's why I'm still not sold on the D. The better QBs in the MAC will be more accurate. That said, at least they didn't run wild against us despite their obvious size advantage on the line. 2. I was never a huge fan of Hagee, but I guess we saw today that we really didn't, and still don't, have anyone better. 3. We gotta be better on first down with the offense. Most of the game it seemed like we were in second-and-8 or second-and-7, very rarely second and short. We gotta get to second and short more often. 4. I can't believe that Tyler isn't one of our 3 best receivers. He should have had 10 targets today. We had some decent results from Davis, but Miller was basically a non-factor despite his 5 catches, and Hall, for as much as we feed him the ball, really didn't produce much despite his one highlight reel hurdle. 5. I know maybe Dunner hasn't adjusted well to WR, but holy crap ... this coaching staff has had a couple of years to figure out how to use this guy and the best they've come up with so far is having him fair catch kickoffs. I don't care whether it's WR or RB or some hybrid make-it-up position, get the kid on the field. Complaints aside, I'm mildly encouraged. Just think we could be better and hope this won't be the best we play this year. I’d also point out that our inability to stop 3rd downs is very concerning. Penix was throwing high most of the game. He makes an adjustment and our secondary gets smoked. I was surprised IU didn’t put in Ramsey in 2nd half. Towards the end of game, did we look sluggish? Will our conditioning prepare us for 13 weeks?

Meanwhile Miami’s freshman QB Gabbert toasted Iowa’s d on the first drive. Keep an eye on that kid. Miami might be surprising. Blaine Gabbert’s little brother.

The one thing that sticks in my gut and has for a while now is why Yo Heinz is not out there alot more. Like I have said before Miller is an awesome third down receiver and Red zone target. He had one big game last year where he was something different. I do not know if its a blocking issue or playbook awareness but for whatever reason Yo heinz and Millers/Davis roles are reversed. It’s perplexing how they are rotated. Tyler is a playmaker. He should be a one and be much more heavily involved. Newton continues to be a mystery too. He looked to be a playmaker late his freshman year but has been buried ever since. At one point this summer I think he wasn’t even on the roster. Instead we mostly throw to guys who aren’t going to break anything open. They’ll get you the catch and that’s it. Hopefully the two freshman that’ve gotten a lot of pub will get worked into the rotation. But I wonder if they are going to try to limit them to the 4 games so they can redshirt. Bottom line, the staff needs to find a way to keep our playmakers out there. Most coaches never take the dawgs off the field. Btw, FAU has a serious dawg at TE, Harrison Bryant. Dude’s s beast. Our TEs are invisible. We just don’t use them. Hoping to see the offense evolve and open up as the season goes. But I understand a lot of colleges run the screens and short throws in the flat all the time now. We just don’t execute them well enough I guess.

Will our conditioning prepare us for 13 weeks? Since Feely left we’ve not been in truly good condition or strong enough, it seems. They work the guys hard but is it the right methodology/philosophy? And we get injured a lot. As far as the 3rd down thing, that’s a stinking ongoing issue with our team. We cannot get off the field. We whiff on sacks. We give WRs a ton of cushion. We miss a tackle. Consistently.

No he won’t. Lol. The guy was winning 24-25 games a year a Dayton with very little talent. Oh please he never finished better than fourth in the A-10 until the best teams all jumped ship. His successes at Dayton were blown way of proportion by the media. Archie Miller is far from a sure thing. I mean if taking Dayton to the Elite 8 isn’t considered good, then I don’t know what to tell you.

He did that one time and he lost in the first round his final two seasons, so don't try and make him out to be Brad Stevens. Hell Crean took a mid-major to the final four, how did that work out for IU ?

Dwayne Wade took Marquette to the final four not Crean. I spoke to a VERY HIGH retired IU employee a while back and I will quote him,''We were never a better team in the second half when Crean coached.''

Hand it to their kicker. He set three personal bests. His longest until today was 44 yards. Today, 47,48,49 yds. IU knew it was in a ball game today. When we play a game like this we have to make the field goals but we must score 7 in the red zone. I am encouraged. We had our chances but we did not capitalize when we our chances. Quit telling me about how IU is strong, fast, blah, blah blah. They are still a bottom feeder and will continue to be one. Exactly. IU is horrible (their record will indicate that by season's end), and they still beat us by 10 after making a bunch of dumb mistakes.

They went 5-7 last season and this team is better. They should win at least 7 games against a tough schedule.

I’ve never felt like Miller has been outcoached in a game. They have lacked shooting big time the past few seasons. They seem to be getting some now.

I believe that you will find that Miller many times is not ''outcoached'' because he doesn't do much coaching. He is another Whit. He allows players to ''create'' while four teammates stand around. Most eighteen -twenty year old kids do not do very well in under that kind of supervision. I just do not like that kind of ''coaching'' . My prediction is that he will be gone in five years.
