UCF up on FAU 48-6 early 4th quarter... Ball State is going to score big on FAU. I think the defense will be good enough.

Keep in mind UCF is a top20 team and we are far from that. I hope we do come out much sharper and energetic than we did today. Once the O got rolling it was really good. Still want to see more out of the run game. The D, I don’t know what to tell you. 29 to Fordham?

After watching some of the UCF/FAU game my casual assessment would be that UCF is on the level of Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State, or Wisconsin; FAU looked to be similar to an upper level MAC program (i.e Western or Toledo). Be that as it may, FAU should be a better indicator of where the program is than Fordham. No disrespect to Fordham as they may be a very good FCS program in a year or two.

I expect that we will be a slight underdog in this one, but we certainly have a chance to win. Defense needs to step up and offense needs some big plays. Also we need to find a kicker.

I was impressed with Fordham’s energy and fight. If they can keep that up they’ll eventually break through. Their Qb was hurting and kept going. I will say was kinda surprised they still had their ones on the field after we’d gone to our 2’s and 3’s. I’d have gotten the qb out of there.
Anyway, we need to increase our energy and focus significantly for FAU.

I think bsu loses a high scoring game in the 30s, maybe 38-34 fau.

We will be hard pressed to beat FAU - IMO but we are certainly capable.
We better play better than we did in the first quarter against Fordham.

FAU opens as a 2 1/2 point favorite. Cardfan should bet his life savings on FAU at that spread. I’m taking the Cards.

I will say this I think the Defense is still a mess and will hurt us badly. I have been really impressed by Plitt though he has been really good

I watched that UCF/FAU game as well. FAU’s offensive line looked terrible. Now I know they have played 2 ranked teams, but their QB had zero time to throw. When he did throw, he threw line drives every time...no touch to his passes. I hope we can provide some sort of pressure to create a similar scenario.
I think our secondary has the chance for a boom/bust type of game. Maybe multiple INT’s?

You might be right but I just do not have alot of faith that our D line can get consistent pressure against like teams. We have had some picks already so I could see us adding another one or two but then our backend end might give up three.. I think this game boils down to plays better on offense and which defense can make that one stop at a critical moment.

But do you think that is mainly due to scheme? I would think if we watch tape on FAU’s offense we should be able to adjust to bring more pressure. Playing “contain” against these guys is not going to work I feel like.

Also, does anyone know of a team that gets their ass kicked in their first 2 games and then comes back to reverse that fortune in the next game? I don’t think FAU has the discipline to dominate us out of the gate, even if they appear to have a more athletic team on paper.

A “more athletic team” is BSU kryptonite We don’t beat anyone in any sport with coaching strategery
