We don't really start recruiting until the Indiana All Stars are named everyone one knows it's how Whit prefers it. Saves lots of time & money we just go after the unsigned Allstars then.

Yeah not even to mention his abysmal recruiting efforts the last three years. Sorry, can’t agree that we have had an abysmal recruiting record. In the overall scheme of things he has been one of the better recruiters we have had at Ball State.
In the overall scheme of things, that's one of the stupidest statements I've ever seen on this board.

I've sai this is a very deep team...your gonna kill me for this but I think our second team could finish MAC mid pack....that would be Luke at PG, El Amin at the 2, Thomas at the 4, Gunn at the 3, and Hendricks at the 5. And, Kroft and Coleman.
Thomas will be hard to keep off the floor as will be Kroft....by the way, both Kroft and KJ can jump out of the gym...when's the last time we had two guys that have a vertical in excess of 42 inches??
You know vertical is a strong indicator of ones athletisism.

Im not even going to kill you Im just calling you bat shit crazy Seconded! kJ is athletic as hell but has yet to prove he can actually play basketball. The idea that our second 5 could finish mid pack is indeed crazy. I’m assuming that means our first 5 will win the league.

Given that the whole team could only finish 11th last year, that would really be some improvement if the 2nd team could finish middle of the pack.

Kroft seems the surprise of the group. I saw him play last year, he was surprisingly athletic then, but I can't say I expected quite that vertical. He could shoot when open, so if athletic at all he may win PT.
We expected Bumbalough to have enough ability to win PT and Thomas might be as good as the starters, that is not a surprise. Hendricks we didn't know much, but you have seen him play, if he can play at MAC level, even 10-15 minutes a game, the bench is pretty good.
Josh is a little quicker this year, may deserve to start. KJ is a starter quality MAC guard if we play the right way.
Acree and Coleman are very good players to be listed as end of the bench players.

And, Kroft and Coleman. There is world class 'kid" optimism! If somehow true, we really do have a chance to win the MAC going away!
There might be 5 players there who would be starters somewhere in the MAC, Thomas, KJ, Ish for sure.
Bumbalough maybe. By season's end. If that good, I like Bumbalough and KJ paired up on a second team, Ish for his shooting in the first group with Josh.
But let's get real, finding 5 players who could fit together and be a mid level starting 5 at the MAC level takes this optimism beyond the pale for me. Hendricks would have to be a real surprise. Kroft and Acree as athletic wings could conceivably have breakout seasons and be at that level. Still. All those guys have no experience as college players, that makes it too much of a stretch to start. Coleman is sneaky as a Swiss army knife type role player, far more likely a surprise steady reserve player than a potential breakout starter as a red shirt freshman.
Gunn has experience and has played a game or two in 2 years that might have been starter quality, but seems to me proven to be a MAC level reserve as a shooting specialist, unless he has had a very surprisingly good summer. He's a little stronger than I thought he'd be, but just hasn't been able to play defense against college players.
OK, so good news is that all are talented players. I'll buy into 4 or 5 very good bench players by MAC standards, more than that takes too much surprise realization of breakout potential. Happy if next year we have all that good talent become starter quality.

We had a few years where 2 really good athletes on the team anywhere was unusual.

Second, our newcomers have yet to even play a game for us let alone a MAC game and you’re anointing them as good enough to finish better than our starters did last year. I agree with Rob...bat shit crazy.

Kroft seems the surprise of the group....Acree and Coleman are very good players to be listed as end of the bench players what happened to acree being whits best recruit ever Good question. We have to get to a practice and see. So far only the kid has seen the current players in action, and the freshmen had not been in much structured play with returning players. Acree was pretty good at times in practice last year, but who knows?
