This team looks like a very formidable opponent. The coach Steve McClain is in his 5th yr there & spent 5 yrs as Crean's top assistant at IU. He also was HC at Wyoming for 9 yrs (157-115). Last yr they were 16-16. He returns his top 9 players of whom 7 are Jrs or Srs. The three leading scorers are all Sr guards who like to shoot 3s as a team last yr they averaged 9.5 a game. They are Ferguson 6'4" avg 15.5 last yr also led them in rebounds & assists, Ottey 6'2" 14.8 & Boahen 5'11" 14.8. He has 4 returnees in the front court in Blount a 6'8" Sr, Diggins 6'8" Sr, Howard 6'8" Sr., & Washington 6'9" So.. However in the 2 games last week he did not play Ferguson, Ottey, Howard, & Blount. No explanation I can find. Both Ferguson& Ottey were named to the pre season all conference team & started in their exhibition game. However, last week McClain played these 5 of which 3 are newcomers Brian Taylor 6'6" fr, Jacob Wiley 6'7" Jr, Jamie Ahale 6'5" Jr, Deon Ejim 6'6" Fr. & Bralen Bridges 6'10" along with Boahen, Washington,& Diggins. This is an International team with 5 of their 13 players from outside the US & three of those are from Canada, So it appears we will have to see who he wants to play Wednesday.

Ferguson and Ottey are injured.
I’m not intimidated by this team. They nearly lost to a NAIA team in game 1 and got beat by Memphis by 40+ (which we could as well). They are obviously trying to find their groove early this year like us. I expect us to play well in Chicago like we did last year at Loyola. I think the big city gets us motivated to play.

Road games are always challenging but with that said we got to win more than 1/2 if we are to win 20 or more

Jesus. UICC? Haven't that name since the early '80s. UICC merged with UIMC to form UIC.

Good afternoon everyone.
Dropping on by to check out the opponent and wanted to offer a little insight into us as well.
We do return a great majority of our team that went 16-16 last year. However, we were all quite disappointed with that showing. Inconsistency and sloppy ball handling is the name of the game for us. Last year was supposed to be the year we make a big jump and it didn't work out that way as Wright State and Northern Kentucky continued to own the Horizon League. Additionally, in We went 2-1 against the MVC for comparison sake with wins over Illinois State and Bradley with a loss to Loyola.
In regards to this year, we honestly have no idea what we are. Out of those four returners that were mentioned earlier - Ferguson, Ottey, Howard, & Blount - two of them are out for, most likely, the year as Blount and Howard suffered offseason injuries. As to Ottey and Ferguson, your guess is as good as ours as we haven't been told anything. The talk on the board is that Ferguson has a 3-game suspension and that Ottey was in a walking boot so I'm guessing that neither will see this game either. So, in a nutshell, we are missing 4 of our 5 best players.
Don't worry about us going down low to exploit any weakness because we have no presence down there whatsoever. I try to be optimistic (I'm a Cubs fan after all!) but I honestly don't expect us to put up much of a fight. I am not trying to put a hex on your team but I think it is a fairly easy Ball State win

Ill say this about us and its in no way a knock on you guys.. We could beat you by 30 or you could beat us by 30.. We have no clue what to expect.. It really hinges on Teague for us. If he removes his head from his but he will give you guys fits and we win. This only happens 1 out 4 games though so your likely good to go

Last season, BSU was totally DEVASTATED by injuries! Devastated, I tell you. Why we were missing a couple bench players for like 3 games or something! It was unprecedented! That's the whole reason we had a bad season.

It sounds like the UIC Flames will not be clicking 4 of their best 5 players/fires this game.
