Anyone see Elson’s tweet tonight? It had the definition of the word “coward” with a thinking emoji. Not sure what to make of that. Really odd, yet sounds so much like something Elson would do

I suppose another option could be he worked closely with another memeber of the defensive staff and he may have heard of one of them being promoted and feels undermined

I did notice no one on the team like or retweeted it.. Nor has anyone wished him well or anything like that.. Normally you will at least have some players wishing a person well or unloading on them.. None of that going on

As far as replacing him.. What about one of the 10-20 fbs level head coaches that have been or are going to be fired. You would think there would be some who are going to need to redeem themselves and have already cashed huge checks that money is not an issue.. I dont know just throwing out ideas

Could we see Tim Daoust again? Interesting thought. His resume is strong. I don't remember anything about his WMU departure. He was a solid special teams and DL guy at Syracuse during one stint in his career. If he didn't come in as DC, he could possibly come in as special teams coordinator and a position coach. Of course this assumes some other moves, i.e., internal promotion at DC and/ or a change at special teams for us. That would probably come down to a few factors: Is he in a good situation at SHSU, are he and Neu on good terms, and can he recruit? This hire and any other staff moves will be pretty fascinating to follow.

After doing a little more research on his 2-year stint at WMU, it looks like his circumstances are very similar to Elson's. It may be telling that the best he could do was position coach at Sam Houston State.

The way he bailed on bsu the first time would preclude his being welcomed back. And he’s not good.
