Why would we ever want Daoust again after the way he screwed us?

I'm sure we'll hire a close friend/relative of the Lynch family.

This is such a critical hire. But we know money is an issue, hoping someone looks at us as a big stepping stone to the promise land.

Call David Braun and North Dakota State. Young guy, and top 5 in almost every FCS defensive category.

Toledo is getting in on the action per FootballScoop:
Toledo: Defensive coordinator Brian George and linebackers coach Mike Ward will not return. George had served as defensive coordinator at Toledo since the 2016 season and previously had served as defensive coordinator or co-coordinator at Kent State, Indiana and Miami (OH). After coaching inside linebackers at Illinois three seasons, Ward joined the Toledo staff for the 2016 season coaching linebackers. This was Ward’s second stint at Toledo, he also served as co-DC from 2009-11.

It appears defensive coaching must be some kind of voodoo sorcery that only works once in a while, for a short time, under specific conditions and cannot be mastered, except by very few.

In today's college football, I'd say yes.

Have we ever considered a coach from St Francis in Ft.Wayne? They are a power house in their division. A good coach there could be a good coach here and I would think we could give an assistant a nice raise in salary. I do not much know about their program but it is food for thought. We might find a diamond in the rough in our back yard.
