Looks like we play @ Columbia on Wednesday at 7pm.
Some information, Columbia RPI - 132
53.5 of their 77 ppg come from 4 players.
They have one 6'10 player who averages 23 minutes, everyone else is 6'8 or shorter. Their two highest scoring players are 6'3 guards
Columbia has shot 815 3's on the season, compared to Ball State's 769.

Should be fun to see/play at an Ivy. Say what you will about this tournament, it's given the guys some chances to see some teams they normally woudn't see, and also to make some big comebacks. On the whole, though it doesn't mean much in prestige or anything, it's been a net positive as far as I'm concerned.

Great run by the Cards against some good teams. Columbia will be tough, but a great test for the Cards. Let's see, win in two over times, win in one over time, should follow the trend and win in regulation. It's been a fun post season but my hair has gotten much more gray! Thanks Cards!

Can't go to this one. I still owe a lot of money for the CD's I got in college.
Sure, 12 CDs for a penny sounds great, but then...

Those New York hotel prices will kill you, I guess playing on the road there and getting some subsidy from Columbia to do it is a good deal for the team, chance to travel to the Big Apple. I'm not clear are we playing in the Columbia "neighborhood gym?" Our Indiana guys will all think that home gym is weird, smaller than most HS gyms, and almost certainly the smallest house we'll play in all year if that is the venue.

Last year Evansville hosted the Final in a smaller venue than Northern Arizona. I imagine it has to do with time zones and TV scheduling to pick the site, since none of these schools had a bigger crowd than NA did at about 5000 in the seats.
You probably make money with the TV from CBS for the semi or finals games. If we manage to get past Columbia maybe we'll host a semi game given our facility and location in the Mid West. If Columbia wins
That final four will probably have 2 top 100 teams. Not sure at this point it matters a lot. If we play like we did against Eastern we can beat anybody. Martin had the hot hand and had played to the semis in this tournament last year, so this was a pretty tough game, a pretty good win.

On the whole, though it doesn't mean much in prestige or anything, it's been a net positive as far as I'm concerned. At this point there is now something to play for. National TV, a chance to win your last game of the season which is always nice, and a title, even this one. Might be more than a little plus recruiting, help sign a kid this year and should help next year's class. The most confirmed naysayers might be in a better mood next year. Even now, I don't think anybody could be saying we have no chance to be competitive in the MAC, and they will have to convert to saying we can't win the championship...The power of negative thought is strong here after a decade of disappointment. Still, just closing out the season with a win at home is a kick! I think the coach's job is safe for now.

It's always fascinating to get the input of BSU football supporters, who apparently grew up and still live in a house with a money tree in the back yard that drops a continual supply of hundreds and twentys to be gathered as needed.
It's a much different background from my own, so I enjoy hearing their perspective on things.

Still a pointless tournament that does not need to exist but at this point lets go ahead and try to win the damn thing. Its all positive at this point

Do we give a payout to non-conference opponents? If so does anyone know what that amount is?

This quote from an EMU fan on their MACbbs board provides explanation. It's not a money tree, it's other people's money. Other people's money is always worth less than your own money.

Its all positive at this point I think a point you might be missing (and Sherm as well) is that is gives our guys tournament experience that can be put to use next year. Should be helpful come next year's MAC Tournament.

This warm winter has caused the cherry trees to blossom early, then this .... My next door neighbor Carlton Banks helped me prune it last fall. Then we danced a happy dance... Cuz that's how we do it over on the football fan page!

I am not sure from your post if you are confusing me with a MAC Football supporter or not ? Personally, I think that endeavor it's mostly an ego driven self-deluded waste of money. However, that being said, you could fund the football program for the next fifteen years with the funds that were flushed down the toilet on the geothermal boondoggle. There have been a lot of flawed considerations made at Ball State that have all contributed to the current indifference and cynicism from the Alumni base. Our next University President is going to have to step up and make some tough decisions, unfortunately I think the BOT might be the most clueless organisation on campus.
