They've been promising to replace the seats in the lower part of Worthen for a few years. Sounds like it is finally going to happen this summer.

For high level CVC donors there will be premium lower level seating with padded chairs is my understanding. Not sure how many rows up that will go.

Lower bowl seats are being replaced. Probably going to decrease capacity slightly, with some seats being eliminated to move back from the floor a touch. Maybe 1 row, to accommodate the sideline space required between the playing area and the scorers bench, and the tv table. Those guys have no space to walk behind the tables when they're occupied.
They were going to repaint the floor, but that's been pushed back.

Wow. Not enough money to repaint the floor. That tells you all you want to know. The new alumni magazine was chock full of people telling me how much fun it is to give money to BSU....the $$ will be remedied very soon. There are many seats in Worthen than have only been used a couple of times so maybe we could sell those to some up-and-coming program as "near new" or "always under cover" to generate paint money.

Pretty much what I would have expected. Mitchell appears to be an old-school NCAA apparatchik who is just kind of hoping the whole NIL thing just magically goes away. I won't be expecting any useful leadership from the leader of the athletics department anytime soon.
NIL is obviously going to be THE thing that separates the winners from the losers for the foreseeable future, and yet he can't bring himself to even mention it in his one year update.
With the only two sports of any relevance both being in the toilet, he focuses on the sports that are typically attended only by roommates, significant others, and parents of athletes. These sports basically exist as a vehicle to transfer money from the general student body to a small and select group of athletes playing games that nobody gives a rat's ass about.
"Our efforts to increase attendance have led to record ticket sales and revenue for gymnastics, women's basketball, and women's volleyball, and we project a new revenue record for men's volleyball by this season's end."
Well that's super-wonderful but the increased attendance is probably measured in dozens and the increased revenue is still some small fraction of the overall money lost in the sports.
For anyone with a sense of proportion, there are two gigantic mountains in the landscape of BSU athletics: 1) "division 1" football is a huge $10million+ per year money drain coming out of the pockets of students and 2) the one program with the potential to be a net positive for the university is having a dismal 24-year run of shit results.
Everything else is silly money-wasting window dressing.

I hear you and that is probably accurate. That certainly is a tough decision. Going either way may alienate literally dozens of fans.

Bullshit spin.
Hey Mitchell, it’s time for you to make some tough decisions and earn your salary. Our 3 main sports (BasketB, BaseB, and FB) have coaches that don’t have what it takes to get us to the next level with consistent success.
