I totally agree with CARDFAN....Truth is we have sucked ever since we played and won in Maui...what was that 2000?? We have barely been above .500 a couple of seasons.
But, we are loaded with young talent in my view....in fact, there could be times that we have 3 Indiana All Stars and 1 Kentucky All Star{ Yes, Moses played on Kentucky All Stars vs. Ohio All Stars} and in another season we could at times have 4 Indiana{with the transfer} and 1 Kentucky All Stars on the floor at one time....I don't believe this has ever happened in BSU history.
We will begin to win this season and should win a championship or two before this bunch is done.

He must keep the recruiting momentum going with this upcoming class. If so, good things lie ahead.

It is all about Attitude. The girl in the room doesn't always leave with the best looking guy. She goes for the guy who has a boatload of confidence and laughs at the pretty boys. There are a gob of basketball fans that follow the program much closer than I that are exuding confidence in this coach, staff, and the recruits they are bringing in. That is the way it should be. When we recruit, we need to be that confident guy in the room and we will get our share of good kids that can play and go to class.

"It is all about Attitude."
Yeah that's why Ronny Thompson was such a successful coach. It's all about talent, execution and game planning. Attitude and confidence don't even win at the YMCA.
If they act too hip, you know they can’t play shit. – Miles Davis

The Attitude is everything.

That's why I also advocate the Damone 5-point plan.

By attitude I mean if your act like you are the small guy on the block you will be treated as such. When we recruit we have to act like we belong there. Not constantly thanking the Big 10 for ''allowing'' us to have a shot at a top player. I am not talking of a Andre Agassi ''attitude'' with a popped collar and a Rod Stewart haircut. If you do not show recruits you belong then you will not get anyone of any ability to play for you. In short we are not lil' ole Ball State anymore.

That's fan attitude and has nothing to do with the staff. The staff is attempting to recruit at a high level. It doesn't matter what we as fans think or do.

I was very close to the Majerus and Hunsaker staff and teams - those guys had a toughness and attitude probably unparalleled since my time following the Cardinals since the mid 60's!
Mental approach and attitude is a huge factor and both Rick (bless his soul) and Dick instilled it = respectful, not cocky but confident and immensely resilient and hard nosed.

Here you go, just click on the site below and go to tab NCAA Vault and select Ball State versus Louisville, UNLV and Oregon State 1990 season games. These guys were all about team, knowing their roles, tough defenders, rebounding and playing the tempo that allowed them to beat virtually any team in the country which they did. www.youtube.com/user/ncaaondemand/vault

Just watched the 1990 NCAA Tournament - Louisville game and got chills. Lots of great memories having been there and of curse the next week at Oakland for the Sweet 16 when we came within one shot of beating the eventual National Champion Rebels of UNLV. So many talented guys we really had a dozen starters (Kidd, McCurdy, Parrish, Miller, Mueller, Nichols, Butts, Thompson, Cross, Spicer etc.) - one heck of a team and one for "the ages"!

I must also as watching this team just now how pissed off I still am for the way Ball State treated Coach Hunsaker to this day.
We let go arguably our best Coach ever (Majerus only other candidate in my mind)and practically ruined his career - thank god that never happened.
We totally over reacted to the extent of the violations and their severity!

At the time of the Hunsaker termination BSU kind of fell into an old trap of believing the program made the coach and they could just sort of plug in whomever. I have worked for two corporations with the same arrogant flawed view of personnel management, and believe me it led to disastrous results both times. In college basketball you can find a recent example at Southern Illinois.
