Oh, Louisville and its fans will find a way to cover for Pitino. As they always have.

He's like a cat with 9 lives, but the University will hate this.
Firing him will not require proving crime, just failure to adequately supervise assistants, the old NCAA "lack of institutional control" offense.
He's survived so far with the "I knew nothing" defense. But, there is a limit.

Yes, it's really sickening to think about what Hunsaker got hounded out for compared to the normal operating procedures of big time recruiting. Thing is though, the NCAA only caused small damage to our program compared to that caused by our own administration over the years.
Obviously Nike is neck deep in this. I would venture to guess that, truth be known, they are the worst offender. I gather that one of those indicted works for Adidas now, but until recently worked for Nike. Personally I hope Nike gets burned good by this.

Dickitch mentioned on his show today that he thought Thomas Bryants commitment to Indiana was a concern. He said that Bryant would acknowledge Adidas reps who had front row seats at assembly hall before every game. He also mentioned he voiced his concern with the administrators at IU. Dickitch is throwing is alma mater under the bus.

This could work out well for mid-majors as high-majors are knocked off balance in the short term. Mid-majors that have coaches who are recruiters are particularly well-placed to take advantage.

You just took my words right out of my mouth. If I am Whitford, I am looking over Auburn, Louisville, USC, Arizona and other rosters and ready to pounce when the shit hits the fan. Maybe his ole buddy Miller will help him out with some of his kids when he gets burned.

Things are going to get very interesting in the coming days. I think the FBI could get just about any high-level program they wanted to get. We are not talking about a slick and well-thought-out system staffed by criminal masterminds. In fact, many involved are probably quite stupid. Think about the various agents and quasi agents, parents, "uncles", AAU coaches and hangers on...not to mention the players themselves. They never had to worry about being slick and covering their tracks because, for a long time, there was nobody who WANTED to catch them. You've got a bunch of dim-witted, low-character, dishonorable knuckleheads who will soon be throwing each other under the bus until the bus can no longer climb the pile of bodies.
How soon until football is brought into the picture?

Rumor is there is a "major announcement" coming from Louisville tomorrow morning. Pitino issued a statement about a half hour ago through his personal attorney, instead of through the school. So it looks pretty certain Ricky is done for good.

Yeah, Louisville is heading for the death penalty, there is no way they survive this. Knowing the NCAA, they'll disband the Sun Belt instead.
