Because I can't find anything I want to watch tonight, and because I'm a nerd, I'm currently watching the BSU/ISU game from 1990-91 season. Fun that these old games are now on the BSU Library account on Youtube, and that Xfinity has Youtube available via the cable box.
You want to talk about small ball? Hunsaker started the following lineup for this game:
G Mike Spicer (5'11") G Emanuel Cross (6'1") F Chandler Thompson (6'4") F Keith Stalling (6'3") C Steve Turner (6'9")
I know Dick mixed the lineup up a lot that year, with nine different people getting starts throughout the year. He sometimes went with a two big format (with two of Turner/Gillis/Broz/Johnson in the game), but the four guard/one center lineup was quite a change from the Kidd/McCurdy lineup from the year before.
Fun to look back at these games and see the atmosphere just five games removed from the UNLV game. Love seeing the entire side being the student section (that I was in the middle of), and that entire side standing the whole game. A hugely different team with a whole different type of game plan, but still very hardnosed defensively.
Side note: Love the halftime interview with Shudel talking about that young QB Mike Neu...

Great stuff. Oh to have a big Bill Gillis type of power forward on this years team. Love watching Hunsaker coached teams.

I saw this post and stopped what i was watching on TV and started watching this! I was living in Nashville, TN at the time and was never able to see these games so if was fun to see this team play! Man the power, size, quickness and talent on that team was impressive! Is there someplace where people can see these games on the internet i.e. You Tube etc.? Also would like to be able to look back on the schedules and see the scores as well. If someone out there knows I would appreciate hearing about it.

Maybe the folks at the old BSSN might put games somewhere?

The stark difference between the basketball athletic skills of that game vs. the one I watched this week makes me shake my head.
I was at these games.....bottom section, behind Hunsaker's bench....loved the old Men's Gym when it was full.

I distinctly remember us jeering Eddie Bird hard that day. Everytime he touched the ball, especially after some of his comically bad shots.

Dang I looked young, on the front row across from our bench. Funny how Turner, who was a good jumper at 6'9", still didn't do the opening tip. Chandler was incredible!

As someone who played on teams with CT through elementary and middle school (and then found himself being too slow and too short in high school to play on those incredible teams), I concur that he was incredible. I really hope things work out well for him at MCHS.

As a guy who missed all of this(I do kinda remember being in a bowling alley watching some Ball State game way back then) I just can not start watching these games. Sadly it would just lead to another Ball State Addiction in which I have no time for.

Just watched the 1995 game vs Ohio. For all of you who forgot, or don't know how talented our 90's teams were, check out this game. Bonzi has 40, Steve Payne with 19 points and 16 rebounds, Marcus Johnson was a big dude at 6'9 250 who transferred in from Nebraska and we started a young Randy Zachary and Marcus Norris. People forget that Marcus Norris could flat out play as he averaged 15 pts a game and had to share the ball with Bonzi and Payne. Ohio has an NBA starter in their lineup with 6'8 245 Gary Trent, along with 7'1 Jason Terry, Geno Ford, and the arena probably has around 9000 people in the stands. The talent level just jumps at you when you watch them play and watch our kids from this years team play. Honestly, other than Persons who would have really fit in with this group, I am not sure we have another player on our current roster who would play much. Maybe Teague! Fun to watch those teams again.

Small nitpick reevo—. It was Amos Gregory, not Marcus Johnson on the 95 team. Johnson played for Hunsaker.
