I spoke w/ an NCAA official this week who was “95% certain” transfers will soon be allowed to play immediately in basketball & football. Could be a one-time freebie, plus grad transfer option. So in theory, a student-athlete could play for three different schools w/o sitting out.

That’s going to cause chaos.

That’s going to cause chaos. Real bad for the MAC and lesser conferences.. Our stars will be able to be cherry picked. Guess we could cherry pick FCS or take BCS bench guys

If that happens the NCAA should cease to exist & colleges can then proceed as they want. Why even give them grades or limit them to four years. The big boys have the TV money just let them pay their athletes & be farm clubs for the pros. The reality of such a change would destroy any school's program not in the 40 in football & all but maybe 80 in BBall.

We are already 70% of the way there. There will now be better High School talent available and for every player that moves up, someone has to move down. You guys are making too a big a deal out of this. It's not the radical landscape change you think it is. In fact in basketball we might be better off.

There will be restrictions. Need to avoid constant turnover and scrambling to fill spots. I’m sure there will be some timing issues to work out.

If wrong, it will hasten the non-power conferences into another “tier”.

This would make an interesting paper for some economist to work out the expected flow of players this would create.

Otherwise a coach could restock his roster every year by taking a bunch of transfers rather than signing any 4 year players out of high school. It would just be a bunch of free agents looking for the highest bidder. Kids developed by mid majors with jyst bail as soon as they could Sfax the midmajor has to start over again.

If there aren't good rules in place we would in essence become a feeder program.

It has felt like we're a feeder program in the past. Don't we currently have two SEC transfers? And Persons moved up (or laterally) to us and Walker moved up to us.
I think if this happens we'll see as many coming down to us as we see going up from us. Maybe even more coming down the way we develop players....

I just don’t want it to be a free for all. We’ve gotten transfers even though they have to sit out a year. Just imagine how many players will move around if they are eligible immediately.
