Not so sure a coach should be able to take all players as a package deal.
But also think one year commitment by a school isn't fair to players. Of course I don't like one and done so easy as it is either.
Not sure where the balance ought to be though.

My thought has always been while we like to think Kids are picking BSU they love the school more often than not they are coming here because of the relationship they have built with those who recruited to them.

I understand, but it doesn't have to be quite the NCAA current rules which create little loyalty on either side.
We commit to a kid, it should be more. Now we drop him if we want too easily. And. If it's college sport the kid needs to commit to school too, not just sport.
And, the corrupt recruiting harm is multiplied if the coach just forms a traveling team and moves from school to school every year.

Some kids do make choices based on academics or s specific program. Sports link brings us some atheletes. Some come not giving a rats ass about BSU and end up loving BSU. They go onto being great ambassadors for the school. Others just come here because its a chance to play ball and that is all they ever care about. Its just depends on the kid if the coach leaves and the kid has made up his mind to transfer he is gone. Sitting out the year rarely stops anyone might as well just let them go without penalty

Let's think what would have happened after Majerus left. Would we have had a number of transfers under such a rule? How about after Ray left? I am afraid the rule could really destroy programs when a coach moves up even though that coach will not get the players.

Oh no doubt it will screw some schools but like I said if the kid wants to go he is likely gone whether he has to sit a year a year or go juco. Current rule does help keep seniors though.

Saying they go once they decide begs the question. A year has to be a factor. College basketball needs to treat the players well, but it needs to keep some of it's nature as a college sport, and it's integrity.
