In the second half, Zach Gunn had 4 fouls and a turnover in less than 4 minutes of play, Tyler had 2 turnovers in less than six minutes. Whitford must have really had their attention at halftime.

Yeah, but......#166 KenPom makes us #2 ranked MAC team.
What a suck athletic conference!

Has this team demonstrated to ANYONE that they are the second best in the MAC? If they have I must have missed those GAMES (NOT ONE GAME).

From the category of "The More Things Change the More They Stay the Same," I went back and looked at board comments after our sixth conference game last year which, BTW, happened to be our second loss to BG of the season to drop our MAC record to 3-3.
From Reevo: Out toughed again. How many second possession opportunities did we give them under 3 minutes? We have to be the worst finishing team around the rim in the country. I counted 11 missed lay ups. Moses had 6 misses point black because he flips the fu***** ball up instead of playing through contact. BG is a bad team. House was awol.
From Bsu0: We are not a good team...no consistency...road games in this conference are a joke. No crowd involvement...Hell, the cheerleaders never got off their asses...we can't win on the road against a terrible team with a losing record and a lousy crowd on a three game losing streak...we are a badly coached team...can't even get the ball in bounds with a chance to tie the game...looked like they had never practiced an inbounds pass ...COACH YOU HAVE TO HAVE THREE OPTIONS ON AN INBOUNDS PLAY WITH NO TIME OUTS LEFT...As I said in the past, this dog and pony show needs to retire...The AD extended Whit's contract for this??...COME ON MAN
I guess you could at least say we're consistent. At this point last year we had a road win over Buffalo but had lost 2 to the worst team in the league. Our schedule last year to this point was a little heavier with East division teams, but not necessarily the strong East division teams. House, our most valuable senior, was up and down a lot during the season, and awol in this BG game, as Reevo notes.
Ah well. BSU basketball: It's like Groundhog Day every year.

You could probably go back 3 years and see the same thing. You could probably fast forward to next season about this time and see the same thing.

While we are stuck in what appears to be a never-ending cycle of mediocrity ...
Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, Duquesne is 14-6 overall, 5-2 in the A10.
I am not proposing that Duquesne has become a better team than we are in the 9 months since Dambrot took over. Like ours, the conference blows. They have achieved what we tried to do last year, meaning they are last in the country in strength of schedule, all the while playing 14 of their 20 games at home.
Yet somehow Dambrot has at least been able to move the needle on a bad program without taking 2-3 years of "process" to install his "culture." Wonder how far above us they'll be next year when all those transfers and a new class of freshmen recruits (several of which we whiffed on) are eligible.
I suspect the 1,500 strong Duquesne fan base is glad the administration passed on some earlier candidates.

NO division I program can be turned around in one year using existing players/recruits and learning a new system. My intelligence is insulted!

Yep it's because Dambrot isn't struggling to install a sophisticated motion offense that requires highly skilled players to operate. Or something like that.............

This was a VERY disssapointing loss! Where we finish in the conference is anyone's guess. How many games we win is anyone's guess. But you can bet the Big Dance will not have an opening for Ball U unless by some miracle we win the MAC Tournment. NIT, no way! Pay-in Tournment, maybe. Following Ball State sports really hurts these days. I only wish I could turn it off, but I can't.

No outright conference championships for the Cards in football or men's basketball since 2001. I envy those who have been fans since before Tim Buckley era. I became a fan right before my freshman year of 2001-02.
