I've never understood the philophy of not fouling when you have a 3 point lead and less than 5 to play. Why give the other team a chance to tie?

If Moses only shoots 55% from the free throw line, we don't win this game. I kept waiting for him to miss, but he didn't.

Why do I have the feeling, this time next season, Akron will have blown right passed us again. Why do I have the feeling that after we lose our next two games, Shitbird will mention having two overtime games this week?

We have lots of work to do and more recruiting to do. But right now this feels damn good. If we fight and play together like that the rest of the way maybe we can catch fire. Gotta guard somebody though.

I've always felt that's a no-brainer at the college level. In high school, with younger kids who aren't as skilled and would have more difficulty executing it, I would say no. We tend to resemble a high school team at times with our decision-making.

We'll find out tomorrow if this team (or some members of it) has quit or not. One player we finally quit on... And right now with 2 of our best 7 players gone, with that our best chance to beat people being good guards and a productive bench, anything really good happening this season seems out of reach. But. We got our money's worth and won a game that showed the team may be ham handed and fragile but after this weeks body blow we did not fold, and talk about the team quitting I don't want to hear. These guys have faced enough adversity this season to make a skeptic believe in the BSU curse. Facing death, injury, early tough games, bonehead stupidity by team mates off the court, some on, the guys whatever their flaws as a team deserve our respect and support. We're not going to bounce back from all that this year, I am sorely disappointed, and almost depressed to the point to not see much good coming except player development this year. And to worry about the next bad news, there is little good news on the near horizon...but I am still proud of the guys who went to battle for us today.

Akron is recruiting the type of athlete we use to recruit back in the day. They are strong, quick, and skilled. They get there big guys for next year andGross will have a one year turnaround. I just don’t understand why we quit recruiting kids like this?

Gotta guard somebody though. Agree it felt good to see the fight when their backs were against the wall. But today we are reversing roles. I am a pessimist, we can't build a big enough fire, I believe.

If Teague and Moses bring it every game like they did today that would go a long way.

Listened to the radio broadcast for part of the game and even Joel said why not play Josh Thompson as Kiapway has given the Cards nothing of late. Josh filled in admirably for the red and white in his minutes on the court. Now down to eight scholarship players the Cards can ill afford injuries or illness. It was good to see all the assists from the big fellas today. Eliminate the unforced turnovers and the Cards could still have a good season.
Go Cards!

I just don’t understand why we quit recruiting kids like this? Mostly strong, and the freshman G looked pretty quick. They did look like his old Ohio teams, not as good up front, but the guy who poured in 48 points looked invincible today. I remember those teams, but always also remember they were not THAT good, always 3rd-5th in the MAC regular season (in a strong MAC East, true) but the key was he had the knack of getting great games from them in big games. I think we saw that today from #0. My wife asked about Groce dancing around on the sideline and working the refs, and I said it was old news, a veteran coach who just couldn't take that formula to Illinois with the same success but is the best or one of the best in the MAC.

We GOT to get serious about the weight room. Can't hurt. Quicker players at guard, and longer will help. Ish got hurt on defense, but will get better with physical maturity and experience. I'll also take mostly long and lean up front if they play aggressively and challenge those opposing big guys. This game saw us attack the rim more with Mallers, Teague, Moses, even Gunn. We weren't hurt by their post play but by more by those strong wings and that quick guard we had to help on. Sellers fought pretty hard...give me more of that from wing players and guards.

Best game Ive seen at worthern in a long time. We were not great but that was fun. Crowd was loud and into it, very exciting. Those 6 or 7 kids that played the last 15 minutes played their butts off. No one can argue or say that they did not. It is going to take that kind of effort the rest of the season because we are behind the 8 ball now. Just glad we beat a version of Akron finally.
