Well, didn't want it to happen this way, but I was hoping Whitford would tighten the rotation and really increase the minutes of key players to 36-38 minutes a game. Now, he has no choice. Sure, it might bite us in terms of tired legs and foul trouble, but it was past time for some players, like Persons and Teague (at least when he's not shooting 3s) to just be left out there. When it came right down to it, our rotation right now shouldn't be more than 7 deep. Thanks to unfortunate circumstances, it's not.

Teague is really good around the basket. That’s where he needs to be.

We are going to have to cut down our pace to keep some of these guys on the floor. Teague and Moses will have to start together from now on. Having a red shirt player really hurts now as our depth no longer exists.

Don’t forget we got some pretty good transfers sitting out Does this officially signify the annual shift into "wait till next year" mode?

Teague is really good around the basket. That’s where he needs to be. What? Are you nuts?
And lose all the cachet we have developed with our super-fashionable playing style, and lose our reputation as the Golden State Warriors of the MAC?

We got the win & while I am not in the wait til next year mode I think I am next to it. (Another loss & they are done) He had better play El-Amin 20 plus minutes a game from here on.

Just finished the game and haven't read back yet, but some random thoughts. Glad I extended the DVR recording by an hour. Gutsy effort to win, but against a short-handed and short in stature team that shouldn't have been in the game with the Cards. That being said, it was nice to see some fight. Now that the Cards are down to 8 scholarship players, and Kiapway still in his season long slump, tired legs might become an issue as the weeks go on. Really would love to see Frances finish his career strong, as he contributed a great deal over the years. Hate to see the struggle. OTOH, glad to see Josh get good time and contribute solid minutes. So happy for him and CT. Team needs to figure out how to guard the 3 and not let every team they play have a player have a career day. Turnovers are also an issue, but that got better as the game went on. Ish is really starting to contribute, and glad his minutes have gone up (even if out of necessity). Glad to also see Sellers continue his contributions, and to not see 6 Teague 3 pointers. Again, this was a severely undersized team, but the dominate performance by Moses and Teague was great to see. Lastly, I thought the CBS announcers were pretty spot-on in their analysis of this team's woes throughout the game. Talk of off-court strife, lack of control of the ball, lack of close-out of three point shooters, having the wrong people shooting at the wrong time. I thought particularly the color analyst had the team's woes totally figured out and maybe had done some research (on here?).
Now... to go read the comments. Guessing... a bunch of similar thoughts to above, a lot of talk about our guards being too slow, some people being overly optimistic about the win, while others make stupid childish nicknames for the coach. Was I right?

Really good to see Moses get aggressive late in the game. If he could bring that intensity every game, we wouldn't be sitting at 4-4 in the MAC.
Teague gave a lot of good minutes. He just needs to lay off the long ball.
Persons may still be hobbled by the ankle he hurt a few games ago. He looked a bit slow.
Still baffled by Whitford's rotation schedule.

This isn’t meant to get a lot of debate, but just my thoughts. Every year every team talks about responding to adversity. Well, these guys have had to deal with the worst possible situation. A teammate taking his life. Then, a teammate getting arrested for domestic abuse allegations. A third teammate being tossed for not being able to handle his issues. All these guys were very close with teammates. These are just kids. A lot to deal with.
Not making excuses for the play, but, wow. A lot of s... going on.
Good luck Cards going forward.

At the end of the day that’s where this team is falling short. It happens to other teams and coaches but what separates the winners from the losers is the coach that can grab a hold of the situation and will it , mandate , coach it to over come and achieve what they thought they maybe couldn’t achieve what they truly want and be more than they thought they ever could be. That’s the real question and current decision this coach needs to come to gripe with.

Don’t forget we got some pretty good transfers sitting out Yeah we have one guy who had the lowest offensive efficiency rating in D1 basketball, and another guy who Counzo kicked off the team 48 hours after taking the Missouri job. Shitbird only brings in the best.
